did not have to go to Jail but he did get a £1500 ($2800) fine The Child was 13 and has Learning Difficulties, but he seems to know how to tell raciest Jokes So I am sorry if I sound tough because he has Learning Difficulties, it can not be used as an excuse, the Child did wrong no matter what and the Teacher has been punished, the Child is free to do as he pleases and carry on being a Racist In my eyes the Parents should also be pulled up about this and be told to control their Child and teach him right from wrong I feel so sorry for this Teacher that in the last few years of his teaching this has happened to him What got me though is that on the same News they have just said that 2 16 year olds have been arrested for carrying out a racist attack on a Shop, well what do they expect when they get protected from being punished for being racist, that is how it starts, jokes and later racists attack

Well I have read the article and I see that the reason he was convicted was that "the removal technique was unacceptable". Also that the parents were asking for damages. I'm on the fence about whether it is OK for a teacher to physically remove a child like that, but I am wondering whether there should be guidelines (ie they have to call a security guard or something). I don't think grabbing him by the collar and belt was all that extreme and a doctor examined the child and found no injury. All in all, I think the fine was extreme, the teacher should have gotten AT MOST a warning. The child should also have gotten a talking to and a warning. And the school needs to set guidelines and make sure that all the teachers are clear on them, not only to protect the children but also to protect the teachers from this sort of thing.

Dawn I agree in that sense but they are only giving the bad sides of the Teacher, not the Child I mean we used to get Rulers across our Knuckles I still do not believe this should have gone to court and the Parents should start to discipline their Son, then this would not happen

This are the kind of things that are affecting our society's morals now. We let kids get by things that they should not do. HOwever, kids tend to mock their parents behavior and when they get away these racist or whatever indignities , they continue doing them only the cases get worse such as vandalism and burgulary. The teacher is of another generation and bless his heart he only did what he thought was right for the kid and now cuz of stupid laws that says we abuse kids when we make them mind, his life is ruined. I have a neighbor who has about a two year old little girl who just opened the gate to my yard, letting my dog out---after me telling her and her mother that I didn't want her in my yard and then she opened my front door and I had to chase her to catch her before she got into something that might hurt her in my house. I said something about a good old fashioned butt busting and the parents just laughed saying they could go to jail for that---- Now, there is definately something wrong when a society lets kids rule their parents and this kid with his racist jokes will go on to be a hardened criminal. There is no doubt in my mind. Let's all take time to teach our kids right and not let them rule us---

Yes Quita there is something wrong with that But again the Parents are right, what makes it worse Children know this and so they will play on it I remember when my Daughter was 10 she was one hot tempered little Girl then lol, she wanted something and I said no, she turned around and Kicked me so she got a smack on the Butt for that, not very hard, as I am not a strong Person lol, she told me she was phoning the Childline (it had only been out about a year then) so I passed her the Phone, I put the Number in for her and told her to go ahead, but to remember that she could be going to a home if she is going to accuse me of "beating her" and if that is what she wanted then fine to go ahead Well little Miss Hothead put the Phone down, when they sat down and talked about her actions and I explained why she could not have it and acting that way will not get her it either I always used to talk to my Children and tell them why they can not do things and told them that is not how a nice and decent Person acted

What your little girl did was due to peer pressure and how the kids try to manipulate their parents. You did so right by handing her the phone tho. I would have done the same thing. It's probably a good thing I' m too old to have kids!! My son got his butt whipped in a grocery store for picking up candy on the end shelves of the check out line. He never did it again but if I'd done it in this day and age, I'd be in prison. He remembers that and has done his three boys the same way. I hope you continue to talk to your kids like you are and that they respect you more for taking the time with them to explain. Hang in there, quita88

I echo Dawn's comments. As you know, I am strongly against child abuse and I conduct workshops on child abuse and on positive discipline. The child certainly needed correction. The parents needed counselling. The teacher needed a warning about handling the situation. Guidelines should be spelled out for similar situations in a school. While I agree that past forms of discipline were wrong, the tables have turned way too far and we need to get back to the idea of training children in correct behaviour and attitudes and not encouraging them to think THEY can set the standards.

You are right Cloud, but it needs the Parents help to instead of claiming damages they should sort the Child on his behavior and leave the Teacher to be sorted by the School but the Parents seem to have no interest but claim damages that is what is making me so angry

THanks for the update.....I totally agree that the parents need to do something....but you have to watch over your shoulder so someone doesn't see you and punish you for punishing them.

I know what you are saying, Jill and it is true but the Child must have got the racist attitude from somewhere so could it be the Parents??? There are ways of punishing and it does not always have to involve smacking or anything like that The boy is 13 now and it could still be rectified but if the Parents are not interested there is no hope

Hi Tamara I think they got arrested I have not heard any more on the News about it But I think we all know that no one is safe any more because most of the Children are growing up to be thugs I am not saying all as there are still Parents that care

I will have to go check out your other postings. I am not totally understanding this posting. The guist that I am getting is that the teacher has been punished for the actions of the child and the parents of the child have not been held accountable. I will repost later when I have better understanding of the issue.
