who should pay on the first date?

I'm really old fashioned, so I believe the man should pay on the first date. I don't mind going dutch or even paying on the next ones, but the first should be his.

i guess whoever asked the other one out should have to pay. i prefer if my date (a guy) pays because i obviously dont want to have to pay, but sometimes we share the costs...like he pays for dinner and i pay for the movie.

I think it has a bit of old fashion charm if the guy pays, but on the other hand I'm quite futuristic so it really doesn't matter to me personally. And if you really can't figure it out; go dutch! LOL :)
