Do you have your flash discs (USB) already?

I feel like I was famous at school when I first brought my first flash disc. It was 128 way back then. It was still expensive during that time. now flash discs are available everywhere and i think many people owns it already. Flash discs are becoming increasingly common today and can be seen on key chains and even necklaces. What is it about this technology that makes it so ubiquitous? As it turns out flash drives have a number of distinct advantages over other existing storage technologies, and each of these contributes a great deal to the product's success. How about you? Do you have your flash discs (USB) already?

I particularly have a couple of those already. First one was just 256MB from my Aunt. Next one is 8BB and the last one that I have is 2GB. Having such things is really convenient since most of the time, I go around with computers, be it at work or at home. I actually purchased my 8GB so that I can easily transfer files from one computer to another. The 256MB just wasn't enough. The 2GB that I have was a gift from a student of mine who happened to like another Flash disk that I had. We simply swapped and it was nice. The only disadvantage with the ease of file transfer would be the ease of transferring, but not intentionally, viruses. (-_-") That's why its really handly to have anti-virus programs in each computer. Then again, one anti-virus program would sometimes not detect a virus compared to another computer which also uses a different anti-virus program. (-_- )

we can't get away with viruses too along with saving some files. antivirus has their distinct virus to kill and most of the time you need to update it to outdate the virus. Proper setup for virus protection varies wildly with different operating systems, machine users, security requirements, and personal preference. However, no matter how useful antivirus software is, it can sometimes have drawbacks. Antivirus software can degrade computer performance. Inexperienced users may have trouble understanding the prompts and decisions that antivirus software presents them with. An incorrect decision may lead to a security breach. If the antivirus software employs heuristic detection (of any kind), success depends on achieving the right balance between false positives and false negatives. False positives can be as destructive as false negatives. Finally, antivirus software generally runs at the highly trusted kernel level of the operating system, creating a potential avenue of attack.

Yeah, we still need to be very careful and not so dependent on such programs that would say, 'protect' our computers. We need to update and be cautious with the prompts that these programs show us in order for it to work to our advantage.

Yes, I do have my own flash disc and I buy latest upgraded drives regularly according to the trends. Its my most valuable memory stick to carry data to various locations as and when its required. The basic advantage is compact able in carrying data and information safely. I like trends so I do like to buy new stylish flash drives to carry my data.

Yes USB drives have become so popular because we can easily transfer data from one computer to another computer. It was never easy to move large amount of data before these wonderful USB devices. Email, CD Floppies sometimes fail to urgent transfer of large data because of their minimum storage and time required for data transferring. So USB drives have come at almost first place for instant data transferring. They are fast, removable, lightweight and affordable also. Nowadays we can get even pen drives of 256GB, that is really huge indeed. I use the flash discs whenever required.

i own three flash discs too. the first one is for storing songs and videos. the second one is for my personal files and the third one is used to store all my office/work files. i don't mix my files since sometime in our lives, we lost stuff and it would be painful for me if i will lost one and all the files might be there.i also store other files in my PC as back up because there were times that im cleaning the discs due to viruses and worms, other important file gets deleted too. thanks for responding to my post. have a nice day ahead.

Hi flagella, flashdisk has become the the common standard of backing up and transferring files now a days for so many reasons. One is the small size that makes it very handy, the usb port it uses is a standard in all computers, the price had gone so cheap lately and the capacity is getting bigger. So gone where the times when people use floppy disk, cartridge tapes and cd for mobile backup, flashdisk is now the best choice, I for one owns two of those.

I have one on my key chain. It's only 150MB but it comes handy sometimes. Got it as a gift. but you're right, everybody has them now. I've seen you get one for free if you buy pack of 100 empty DVDs for burning.

I have two or three older USB drives that are about 256 MB. I should get more higher capacity ones as they are now very cheap except for the super large ones. I use them mostly for transferring files from one computer to another. I also used it for a portable password program and also put all my favorite bookmarks when I had to be out of town using another (public) computer for several months.

Yeah, I have 4 USB flash disk each have 4 gig which I uses when I have to store few important documents. I see it as more convenience compare to keeping your important documents in CD or DVD they are more reliable. Now, I still used it when I have to scan my photos and develop then just store it in the USB and also uses external hard drive which is also good which could hold more data.

Yes I do. In fact I have 2, out of which one is still in the package in which it came.lol. I use it regularly to transfer data from my laptop to my netbook. This is because a netbook does not have an in-built CD/DVD drive like a laptop. I work a lot on my netbook, when I am travelling. So the USB drive comes in real handy to transfer data. I also backup my netbook data to my USB drive. I think it is so popular, coz it's not too expensive, it's easy to transfer data on it, plus its highly portable.

I had my first USB five years ago when we attended a Trainers Training. Part of the kit is the USB where all the powerpoint presentations were saved. I was so amazed and felt lucky for having a USB then. It was so expensive and only those trainers had it that time. Since then i am used to having USB and had lots of USB.

Getting irritated with the use of the floppy disc which were always invaded by viruses, the use of the flash disk was a welcome relief. I was given by the school two units of this thing called the flash disk or the Universal Serial Bus(USB). The use of the flask disk was a new fad among us teachers at that time so you get to be very proud hanging this small thing in your body binded together by the id lace. I had for the first time 2 1GB usb which i used to store out all the files in our office and of course my personal files which i surfed from the net. The use of the USB was really a welcome practice not only because of its functionality but also because of its convenience compared to the 1.44 floppy disks. It has a lot of advantages for one its easy to use, second its very cute and fashionable, third its easy to keep and fifth you get to store as many information as u like not to exceed of course its storage capacity. I can truly say usb's have been useful to me and perhaps to most of us who are fond of tinkering the computer and surfing the web. thank you.
