I am not exactly sure what he did. But if what he did is for a right reason then he should not be killed (i heard he was doing for unity of his country or something I didnt understand) but if he did it for his own gain then he should be sentenced in this manner.

I'm sorry because I know I will be offending you now, but this remark makes my prejudices about the population of US and Canada even stronger. I really don't understand how anyone above the age of ten living in a country with relatively free press and news-reports can know so little about what's happening in the world! Sure, the things that aren't reported (so many of them) but please, have you not opened a newspaper or seen even a news-flash on tv the last 15-20 years???

No! You don't resort to barbarianism to show that barbarianism is wrong. He needs to never rule a country again, and he also needs to be incarcerated for at least the next 20 years, but, after that, he needs examples of civilized behavior instead of examples of uncivilized behavior. Call me a dreamer if you wish, but I believe that, if we show him civility, he just might learn something in his old age when it comes to respect of others--and, having learned something, just might pay it forward.

I think I'd better clarify when "after that" begins. I didn't mean to put him in prison for 20 years and, then, show him civility when he gets out. Instead, I meant that, after he's in prison, he should be treated in a civilized manner--which shouldn't be mixed up with eating steak several times per month and having a home-entertainment center in his cell. It just means being neighborly instead of abusive.

He is an evil and brutal man and deserves to be punished. But killing him would also be wrong. It would be state sanctioned murder. The state would lower itself to the same inhumane level of Saddam Hussein. Furthermore it would only spark more violence in the Middle East and more innocent people would die. I say put him away for the rest of his life.

I totally agree, there are a thousand other potential "Saddams" all willing to step into his shoes. No need to create a martyr.

Absolutely. A dictator like him should not see the sunlight again. We need strong deterents. It is true that crime will never stop happening. But it should be slowed down. Hanging of Saddam would be a decisive step.

I think it is too quick. I say he should be left in a prison cell for the rest of his life.

it's common knowledge that it's not justifiable to kill a person. u have no right to take the life of a person. and i believe that much more than the laws being set by man. although he has killed a lot of people, killing him would only make us be like him...

They should not kill him but make him suffer like he made people suffer. And they should also find his pal Oussama and do the same to him!!
