Hi mylotters! Does anyone of you knows what "509 Bandwidth Limit exceeded" means? I been trying to login to a certain PTC site but this is what I am getting everytime I went to their site. It also said that the server is temporarily unvailable to service my request due to site owner reaching his/her bandwidth limit... It has been 2 days already. Can anyone please explain this to me. Thanks! I would really appreciate.

that is because the webhosting company of the site has monthly bandwidth limit when the limit is reached, no visitor can visit the site so that's why you see the error message. it usually solves automatically at the beginning of next month.

Yes, I believe so I host a website with a company with no monthly limit but I do know some webhosting company has the limit I believe that's the reason.

When you sign up for internet access they offer different programs and some have bandwidth limits! Bandwidth is the amount of usage, you take out of the system and you've exceeded your limit, or your provider has exceeded theirs! You either need to up grade thru your provider or find a different provider! Sorry I know this won't make your day pleasant! tdemex

In addition to "tdemex" Bandwidth exceeded - is the bandwidth you subscribe or purchased from a certain web hosting or provider. Some web hosting and provider charge you by the number of bytes in/out,meaning if you exceed in its limit this is what happen. Temporarily unavailable - this is also concerning to web hosting or provider some provider / web hosting allows you to host your domain name (e.g. www.yourname.com) in their sub domain name for 1 to 2 months if in case you were not able to pay your bill for a certain month it will automatically out of service. That is why if you open the page it says "temporarily unavailable".

hi syndrix! Thanks for the information! The site is back and up again. According to them they paid a higher amount than the package they took before. Hopefully they can cope up with the high price difference.

I think it's the other way around...it's because their site went down due to them reaching their monthly bandwidth limit, not his. They need better hosting, that's all. Don't worry, it will be up again

ho lovelyn, When ever a site buy adomain it also buys the hosting rights to it but then it depends upon how much traffic is site expecting and that why they usually buy usuage ie say like if a site is expecting very little hits then it can be with less than 100 mb and if it is expecting more then more than that. The problem occurs when site buys less mbs and get smuch more hits than it thought it would get and when all mbs are used they give this sign.. sorry thats what i think

Hi asweetie! Thank you for your response... Just to update you, the problem is already solve now... I believe they upgraded their membership fee... It is a bit expensive compare to the previous fee she was paying before, as she said... Everything is working fine now...
