I have been working at my current job at a motorcycle dealership for 2.5 years. recently business has slowed dramatically from what it should be. I am a mechanic and it takes years to be able to know everything there is to know about fixing problems and doing it quickly. Well, they decided to lay of the master technician and keep me on for the next 6 months until he comes back. They know that i'm not the most experienced and that many times I don't know how stuff works. But, they laid him off anyway and now business is actually coming back and I am all alone and swamped at work. i mean swamped, like 4 to 5 different bikes at a time, and three motors completely disassembled on benches waiting for parts. I am stressed out and really not feeling lie this is right or fair. what would you do to stay motivated and not just start looking for a new job?

Well, in times like this, u cant afford to choose anymore.. Wont it be better to have a job as compared to being lay off?? WHat happens if u leave, and u cant find other jobs out there?? Though your company might be taking advantage of u now, learn to take it in yout stride.. Wait for the right opportunity before resigning for a better company, for u will be better recognized, as u are able to cope under stress and perfom well ^_^ With that in hand, u might even ask for promotion or pay raise from your existing company.. haha =D If they refuse, u can resign, when the right time comes along ^_^

Thank you for the response! I just can't stand being takin advantage of and the other mechanic asked to be layed off so he could go on unemployment for the winter. We were understaffed before he left and now it is just me. I don't want to quit, ut my service manager has never worked on bikes and doesn't understand what it takes so he is just like here, this should only take a minute, meanwhile it is an hour long job. Sorry for ranting, just a little stressed.
