Winners and loosers in Beauty Contests.

Every body remembers, the winner and runner up of the beauty contests which are conducted through out the world, but does anybody remembers the third placed person. An example in 1994 Miss. Sushmita Sen who was the winner, won the Miss Universe contest, and Miss. Aiswarya Rai, who was the runner up, won the Miss world contest. Does anybody remember who was the third placed person.Why is that we always remember only the first and second placed persons, some times we even forget the second placed person.
Any answers on this.

This only proves the saying ‘participating is what matters, not winning’ very very wrong. Everybody participates in contests to win, nothing succeeds like success and nobody remembers the losers. Susmita Sen is remembered mainly coz she was the first Indian lady to win the Miss Universe and if Ash had not become Ms. World, nobody would have remembered her either. Runners up are not remembered, only winners are remembered.

Quite right, sudipta, even is Aiswarya had come second in Miss world, I do not think she would have been such a big Star. I do not remember who was placed third in that contest, and as well as who was second to Priyanka Chopra. Welcome to the real world.

and some times we even not remember the first place ones too. only the one who gets the fame is the one remembered by everyone. ash and sush made their name famous by working the indian films similarly praiyanka and lara too but many disappered.
