Do you like being able to customise character?

I love being able to do this in a game and think it adds to the gaming experience. It is becoming more and more common and as long as it doesn't detract from the game I think why not. I'm also curious to know if it appeals more to female gamers or male or both. So do you prefer a game where you can customise or not bothered or maybe you hate the idea?

I am a big fan of video games, and they are one of my favorite pastimes and I do not know if I could live without video games, because they are awesome and a good stress reliever and I like some games where your character is already set and you just play the game like on war games and stuff like that, and I also like games like Knights of the Old Republic where you set up your character the way you want them to be before starting the game because it makes it interesting, and there have been very few games that I have played where I did not like them.

Me too if I'm not on the net I'm playing with my PS3 or DS and even on buses I'll play with the games on my mobile. I find it makes it more interesting to have a character that either looks like you or an idealised version.

I am glad you think that way,and I guess for me if I can create a character I can get more into the game, and pretend it is me doing the great things, since life does not let me save people and do stuff like that even though I have had dreams of greatness,as I am sure a lot of other people probably have as well, and I am always finding new games that I like playing.

I guess I do like to play games that allow me to customize my character, or sometimes, i like the game itself because it is about customizing the character. But when I was thinking about this discussion, I realized none of my neopets are customized! There is this other site though that I am addicted to, which is Poupeegirl. It's a dress-up site, in which you have an account and post cute stuff, get currency and items to dress up your "poupee". I am so addicted to that game! With neopets however, I realized I am more into getting petpets for my neopet and like earning money, buying books. I think on neopets, it's the first time I wasn't actually focused on customizing my characters. For most games, I usually enjoy customizing the most. It's something I spend a lot of time one, and sometimes I would even lose interest once I'm done customizing my character.

I just love customizing and it definitely keeps me interested in any game. It's weird you haven't customized your neopets I can't stop lol. I dressed them all up for halloween and I've got one dressed for the neopets 10th birthday celebration, next month they will all be christmassy.

It's not something that becomes a factor when choosing to play or buy a game, but I do like the idea of being able to customize my own character. When you can customize a character, if feels like it is really you who is playing and not a preset character. I like being able to customize everything about a character: hair, eyes, clothes, name. I don't find it to be much of a customization when you just pick out the color of their clothes or just their name. Oh, and I also like it when I'm playing an RPG or adventure game, the clothes and weapons actually change when you equip something different. Sometimes I'll purposely equip something with lower stats because their clothes and/or weapons look cool (=p)

That always annoys me losing cool weapons or items when you get something better. It's great it's becoming more common in games as long as the games doesn't suffer then why not.
