People walk when talking to the mobile phone?

Why do people start up walking when talking to the mobile phone? Sometimes it's really silly, they even hit you and do not notice because they're too busy walking and talking...same in office, as soon as a mobile rings, the guy starts walking...but not getting into a more private location, just walking around! Any idea why?

I think it's a reflex action for restless people. Since their mind and ears are already preoccupied with the mobile phone, a part of themselves need to keep going. Thus, they move around. Specially for people confined in an office space. They start walking thinking they need privacy for the phone call, but in reality it's just involuntary reflex action.

I think it is because they feel if they are walking around a lot of people will not want to pay attention and overhear what they might be talking about. Also I think that it just helps them feel a little better as well, but it is true most of the time they are not really watching where they are going, and in the end could really still end up hurting themselves or someone else as well.

I too have seen many people doing this..But I have not thought the reason for this..I think it is just like using the time efficiently - doing some sort of exercise for the body instead of wasting the time he is on phone.

This is an odd phenomenon isnt it. I have seen people get up from their recliner and beagin walking around, often going outside. There is no noise in the house that would drive them to go out there, maybe they are trying to eliminate an echo. Could be that there is a psycological thing about it being a mobile phone so they think they need to be mobile! LOL. I think I have been guilty of this a time or two, but I usually take a seat somewhere and talk, I certainly dont get up if I am already sitting.
