Last night i was invited to my friends across the street to come eat a steak cooked on the grill. Was great by the way. I ask what i could bring & we decided on potato salad. I got it fixed & i decorated it w/a flower made of egg. Have y'all ever done that. It does look real pretty & i put it in one of my antiwue green depression bowls . When my friend took the foil off she said well aren't we the martha stewart tonght. Cracked me up, she is such a good friend. Have y'all ever made an egg flower?

Like my dad said to my turkey soup, "taste 10, presentation 1". What I make tastes good, but I have no clue when it comes to prettying it up.

Maybe so, but it's all about the taste for me... Praps when I'm retired and it isn't all rushing around like a crazy person.

Hi Aunty, I saw a flower made from a potato once but never an egg. I can't quite imagine how you'd do it without the yolk splitting.

It is very simple Thea or u know i couldn't do it. My aunt use to do it that's where i learned. U make shallow cuts in the white of the boiled egg & u use them for the petals. U LEAVE THE YELLOW INTACT & USE THAT FOR THE CENTER OF THE FLOWER. Cut the egg from top to botton not around.Try it , it looks real pretty.

Although my food tastes good I do tend to botch things in the creative appearance department. I will attempt it but I can guarantee it will bear no resemblance to a flower.

No personally I have never done this one yet, but I have been places and seen people do this, especially in some of the places that sell Salads, or in Buffet places when the Salad is new as well. It does make it look a lot nicer, and something we could all benefit in considering maybe as well.

Hi Jo! I haven't seen a flower made of egg. What I saw was a quail egg that looks like a bird. Well, foods look more inviting when it is decorated attractively.

I have never made anything liek that before. I have tried to be creative but I just do not know how to make those kinds of things. I wish I did. My husband can make a few things out of an apple but he got alot of practice in the Army. How do you make the egg flower? That is neat.

See how smart u are , u figured it out all by yourself. if u want to be a little more decorative u can use a strip of green pepper for the flower stem. I didn't do that last night, i usually do.

That sounds o great and I am going to use it at Christmas when the third son comes home with his girl friend. She is from Lithuania so we are getting to be our own United Nations in our house.

I've been thinking about this one. Did you cut the white of the egg like you can do with a tomato - sort of jagged cuts and then use the yolk for the middle of the flower

That was funny about her saying that you were being the martha stewart, lol. I bet youall had a good time together, didn't you? Kathy.

Good morning Kathy, i'll be glad to tell u. U boil an egg, let it cool after u peelit. then u take it & cut 7 from the top down make slices in just the white part all way round. that will be your petals. the whole egg yolk will be the center of your flower. i ususally use a thin slice of green pepper for the stem.We did have a good time , she is a great friend. We talk most every day. U have a great day. jo

Thank you. We have potluck suppers once a month at church and I might add this to whatever I take to potluck sometime. This might make it pretty. Have a good night/day. Kathy.
