I think that is very good. I mean, very good for the boss and sucks for the employee . In normal condition, when someone receives a promotion and new title, then the salary must follow. The promotion can have a meaning of: 1. The employee has done a good job while he's working in the company 2. The employee get a trust from the boss to fill the new position 3. The company needs a new guy for the position 4. The boss thinks the employee has skills to fill a higher position In affect of promotion: 1. You will have more works to do 2. You need more responsibility to the company 3. You may need to work more hours in the office So the promotion must be followed by the increase of salary

However, some companies in some countries do the kind of trick to their employee. They give promotion only by the title, not the salary. It is now depending on the employee. Some people like to have a promotion, even though, they don't receive any higher income. At least, he is not being a staff forever and ever. If you are a kind of person who concern on money instead of title, you have only one choice, find other job. If the boss already make a decision like that, it is unlikely to be negotiable.

well though money is not a big deal, but as an employee it is our right to be paid on a just basis. am i right? each service should be paid according to what it has served in the company. it's unfair..so yeah! you're right...find another job.

I have heard of this happening especially in difficult economic times. I guess you have to decide if the promotion could carry the possibility of more money later on. Say if you company has a wage freeze on, like many do these day, is it beneficial to take the promotion so that when the freeze is lifted your salary will increase to the new rate. It would still be somewhat disappointing but you would have new goals to rise up and meet. Which could renew your energy and happiness level. It would just depend on a lot of various things as to whether it would be worth it or not.

...oh that's bad!!..we can't call that promotion and it's really disappointing espl. if you don't have choices and worst is you have huge responsibilities on your hand, but on the other hand you'll learn alot from it or maybe your employer is just testing your skills, there could be a reward later? let's cross our finger on that...

I'm more realistic. if the promotions and salary increases(more than 30%) I can only choose one, I would choose to raise.

really? but some employers just entices their employees. giving you new title..but title only. not the amount matched to your position
