Another example of Wall Street Perks

According to many publicantions including the assoicated press, many of the top Wall street firms are receiving H1N1 vaccines well before many hospitals, and people at much higher risk. When news of this came out the New York City Health commissioner went into CYA mode. When interviewed by CNBC yesterday he repeatedly said that his office followed the instructions set out by the CDC. However, when he was questioned as to why many hospitals in the New York area don't have the vaccines, he didn't have an answer for it. Nor could he explain how they knew that the vaccines weren't going to the leaders of these companies who are not at risk. He only said that the people giving out the vaccines are told who is at the highest risk. Do you think that these people are using their power, and money to influence who gets the H1N1 vaccines.

Money talks, it always has. But it isn't just Wall Street we should worry about. According to a new report, 237 of the members of Congress are millionaires with seven of them having wealth in excess of 100 million. This is 44 percent of the body as contrasted with 1 percent of all Americans. It makes you wonder how they can speak for us, when they aren't like us at all. I wonder when the members of Congress will get their shots?

Please show me where this has anything to do with the post. Do you need a road map Rollo?

Well, feel free to give the penny back, debater. Why not put the blame where it belongs? The CDC is run by the Dept of Health and Human Services which is a part of which government? That's right, the US government. And which firms got their doses of vaccines ahead of the hospitals? That's right, the firms the government bailed out to the tune of billions of dollars. This is the government distributing this vaccine, and if they are swayed by the money shouldn't your ire be directed at the government officials who made these decisions? Now, the companies have these for distribution to employees, that is, not just CEOs. They are supposed to distribute them according to highest risk first. Now back to Congress. Think they will be last in line behind those hospitals? Think again.

"This is the government distributing this vaccine, and if they are swayed by the money shouldn't your ire be directed at the government officials who made these decisions?" According to an article that I read, the individual states are in charge of the vaccine distribution, not the federal government.

Of course they are, and it's wrong. Workplace health centers should be far down the list of facilities that receive the vaccine, with all hospitals and community based health clinics as well as physicians given priority. Those Wall Street fat cats can go to a medical facility to receive the vaccine just like everyone else.

I agree 100%, and when the CDC heard about this they were outraged, and started an investigation. There are many hospitals in the country that don't expect an vaccines for months, and many at risk patience are going to other states to get them. Pretty sad when people that don't need it, are taking them away from people that do need them.

I think people always use their money to come out ahead. So goes the world. Money rules all -- money begets power and influence and more money. Even if this is changed it won't be changed. There will just be new influential people. New power. New money. When you really look at it, there's no such thing as "equality." A first come, first served basis would favor those with means to be first served. Damning the rich to give to the poor is preferential treatment. Rich deciding is money doing what money does. Tossing shots out to every single person is essentially coming out of the richest pockets. Eat plenty of garlic.
