Something weird going on and it happens more and more...........................

I have my friend's discussions come to me at my mailbox. When I get one I open it, and then click on 'resond to this discussion' and I am taken there. On several of them I get just this:
This discussion no longer exists or has been removed due to a discussion guideline violation.
Why? They are innocent discussions and do not seem to have anything that would go against the discussion guidelines. Why would it be a violation? Any ideas? Could it be one of the answers? But that woulldn't seem right because it was the discussion itself. It has happened more than once and not with the same member. Is this happening to others as well? Have you had this happen?

Hi celti,
Identical things are happening with me too. Just go to respond page and there is a ghost sitting and yelling 'the page has been removed...' but while I read the content in the mail there did not seem anything that could possibly invite the axe. But this still stands a mystery for me who weighs them and for what reason those are deleted or removed.

Exactly. Absolutely no reason. Only thing I can think of is that it was the language. Not bad but not cohesive or something. Either that or the troll.

I noticed that on a few of them as well, I don't know why either. you never know why this happens. It could even be the hateful ones who get articles deleted because they think it is fun.

Ya, I may have to step in. It was just weird because they were very non-explosive or anything out of the ordinary type questions. The english was alittle off but still.

hey xfahctor - you replied to my 750 new non-discussions in marine life yet? they all have a certain theme. to give you an idea of how wonderful they are here are the first 8:
squirrels are rodents [+link]
red squirrels have red fur [+link]
grey squirrels are an american invasion
red squirrels are rarely found in parks
there are many species of squirrel worldwide
do you prefer red or grey squirrels?
do you have a pet squirrel?
do squirrels eat icecream?
and 742 more...

Hi celtic, if they appear to be innocent then most likey they are repeats of other discussions, maybe unwittingly, but neverthless repeats. The other likely thing is they refer to something like earnings which get deleted but people presume they are okay as there's one up at least twice a day. If it is just one response which breaches a guideline then the response alone is removed and the discussion remains.
You could also have stumbled into a plagurised discussion.

If they are why didn't I get the right ones then? I don't think so. Plagurized eh? Something odd anyway.

Well you asked and those are the main reasons why discussions get deleted. If it is bad language or something like that then the comments alone get deleted.
The other possibility is that you are responding to the one liners of no substance, those also get delteted.

One liners of no substance? Nope. Very mysterious. I can understand some but others make little sense.

having been busy hijacking earlier i thought i'd better respond properly. i'd guess that these discussions were removed just because they were too similar to previous ones - if they didn't obviously have any other violations that seems to be the most likely explanation.

Well, we had four or five on one subject today and none were deleted. It is really is a mystery.

I have opened an email, read it, and then anticipated responding to only find that it had e been deleted. I am not sure why a discussion would be deleted unless the discussion starter requested it, or unless there was one element of it that didn't seem fit per guideline expectations. Idk.

I find it to be annoying but I know it's just mylot and mylotters behind the scenes working on cleaning up mylot. Though those that aren't really against guidelines I wonder about!

I open and email, read it, answer it and go to send it and get that notification and the post or topic is gone.

CE-
It seems that if a thread is reported enough it is deleted by Administration. At times the discussion topic is fine but there are posts within the thread that violate TOS and it seems easier for Administration to get rid of the entire post rather then filter out each one individually.

It was a new thread. No answers on these at all. It had just come in to me.
