As the election draws near, do you already have a candidate that you support? Let's use this topic to state who our candidate is and why you chose him to help out those who are still undecided.

I haven't made a choice yet. My reason behind this is, I personally don't think anyone is suitable. I think the Philippines deserves better than the people running for presidency but what we got is already there. I am giving it time to narrow down my pick of the litter. I don't really have much opinions about it other than I don't think anyone is suitable. In the end, my choice would be the lesser evil if that makes sense. For now, I think it's too premature to make any decisions. I'd like to wait and see what they have to say and what they intend to do to prove themselves worthy to serve a country that has some of the most resilient people in the world.

Thanks for choosing my post. There are a lot of factors to consider. I would most definitely not pick Estrada though because I think his whole running for president is a charade so that the popularity of a certain running mate would be increased. At the moment, I remain open minded. I think it's really premature to say anything concrete.

I would like to add... My choice would be narrowed down to what a candidate has thus far accomplished. I would also be interested in finding out who his "posse" is in the political circles he runs with because it could be very possible that other politicians can be pushing for ones election just so they can make a puppet out of him since he is more popular than they are. I would also look at what he hopes to do in terms of achievement, where it is something realistic and can be put to action. I am also not particularly fond of candidates or people who like to talk down about the current administration without providing a logical or clear cut solution. It's easy to talk trash about the Government but do you see many people who offer solutions? No. Most of them only complain.

You are very welcome to look at the comments our fellow pinoy Mylotters have posted. That's my purpose of creating this thread. We help each other choose the best (among the available options we have) so that, at the very least, we help our country by not have the worst possible. I agree with you also that at this point and time it is still very hard to chose not only because we have a very limited set of individuals who are actually on the running. It would be very beneficial to all of us if you would break down your considerations as well to help other see the upsides and downsides of the candidates you are considering as of the moment.

Why Chiz? I mean, what made you choose Chiz over the others? If I were still undecided, how would you convince me to pick Chiz as my candidate?

i can sense myself in Chiz, young, motivated, very willing, and i will never forget how he criticize the administration for their shortcoming and unwise decision.

What people do not know is that Chiz has been very active not only in talk but also in passing bills mainly on tax regulation and how to restrain tax evaders. I personally have Chiz in the running. Though is still have 2 other candidates I am considering other than him, both having less of a chance of winning than Mr. Escudero.

Actually, I am still choosing between Chiz and Villar. I believe Villar can lead us to a better economy since he has a lot of experience. Chiz, on the other hand is man of principle and fresh. But then, I think he still lacks experience in different aspects and he lacks machinery to win especially if he will run as independent candidate. These days, I think we need not just a smart guy but also who can wear iron fists and can discipline all of us.

I'm sorry if I would have to disagree with you on Villar. If discipline is what the Philippines needs, why choose a leader who gets rich in dishonest ways? Did Las Piñas grow during his time? No, it stayed the same. In fact I was a witness to some unexplainable (sometimes really downright stupid) projects like repairing bridges (that are in no way damaged). I don't think he has any heart to serve the nation. If he's really that good a businessman why does he have to grab land and cheat poor Filipinos to buying them? Having lived in Las Piñas made me witness all of these, please if you love the country, don't vote Villar. Again this is just my take on this, you can still choose to do otherwise, I just felt the need to inform you (or anyone for that matter) of what I know about him.

I agree. CHIZ ^_^ haha. No special reason, But I think the guy is good and who else will you vote besides him? Noynoy? bah! not because his mother was a good president I don't think he is too. Erap? Again? lol. he's my 2nd option ^_^ he's rich enough and had experience before, maybe he can do better now. I HOPE ^_^ Other candidates is uh.. I dunno.. I'll stick with Chiz here ^_^

Eddie V? oh my, I Don't like religious guy, like he can change the country with faith or something. Bayani? Looks like it's gonna be a "Pink Philippines" hehehe ^_^ I think he's good though, what he did in Marikina is good, most of the people there go for BF. So far so good, but if ya ask me? Don't like the MMDA so that means I have no interest in him ^_^ about tita cory. uhmm I have nothing to say about her, don't recall too much, I was so young back then, haha ^_^

I'll have to disagree with one thing, and this is only my opinion so don't flame me about this. I think "Tita Cory" did not do well as President. Let's face it, her time was the start of the downfall. If someone as able as Marcos comes along I'd vote him even if he has "Martial Law" as part of his platform. What she did to unite the people was exceptional, but she wasn't good as President. I'd say there are other candidates with better platforms and track records than Noynoy, Villar and Estrada. Bayani Fernando has a good platform (but people hate him because they hate to be bothered. I think he has the right ideas, Filipinos are just too lazy to change their lifestyles to the better). Eddie Villanueva has a good platform (but majority will not vote for him because he is a religious icon and they are afraid the he will use the power to promote his sect). There are more to chose from than those who we see on TV. Let us be more critical in choosing our next leader.

my vote is also with chiz, compare to ninoy. chiz has more things to say against the administration and it can be seen how he works, i just hope that he will be honest on occasions like this. ninoy is only becoming popular because of her sister and the her parents shadows. i guess ninoy have not yet proven his worth as a government employee compare to chiz.so, vote for chiz people!

I agree with tokouchi. After the ever famous EDSA revolution, cronies came back again. After being freed from dictatorship, what happened? Commodities started to rise, at a faster rate if I might add. I'm not an advocate of martial law though. Probably it all comes down to good governance and political will. But if were going to look at some of the countries ruled under martial law like Cuba, I guess their better off than us. They have one of the best countries with a should be admired health care system. It's practically almost free. They've been on economic embargo for decades now. All comes down to political will I guess.

But I think that Chiz can only dominate youngsters votes. My parents go for Chiz too but they said that because he is now an independent he may now lose the chance to win the elections.

It is sad that a once known country has now been overtaken by it's neighbors, not because of the rapid growth of the region, but by it's the steady decline. We don't need another pig in the Malacañang. That's why i urge everyone to look very closely, be critical. This is no time to be carefree. If the Philippines sinks further, imagine what future your children will be having. Let this be your advocacy. The right to vote comes with a great responsibility.

I have not totally decided yet, my choice today could still change in the future as the election nears.I would vote for Noynoy because for the longest time we Filipinos need change, we have had a lot of presidents who were intellectuals and the not so intellectual. But i think what we need is inspiration, a leader who we can call our own, not just for the masa or the unthinking public who think that it's the president who will put them out of poverty. If he wins, he won't spend his entire presidency paying debts of gratitude or defending those that he worked with which could happen to Gibo, Someone who will not spend all his time criticizing just for the sake of criticizing because he's in the opposition but is not doing anything about it like Chiz... very lawyer like, someone who became a billionaire because of profit and the scandals that goes with it. If Noynoy wins, it would be his chance to prove that he's on the same league as his parents and this would motivate him to do more than what he can offer. Cheers!

I'm not closing my doors yet, if only Gordon or Bayani Fernando will run... these guys are really good at what they do. But i guess, it's a matter of who is popular.

I understand everyone has his own opinions. Noynoy, to his credit, has done a few notable things in the past. I don't think he is ripe for the position. For me, he has a lot of proving to do before he sits in the palace, but as I said, everyone is entitled to his own opinion. Please do try to look into the other candidates as well.

I believe Bayani will run, and yes I agree they have done really well. Although as I have mentioned in previous posts, Fernando has been hated for trying to invoke change. It is very saddening that people want the society around them to change while they themselves do not want to act for improvement. I too, will remain open for other candidates who can prove that they can make a difference if given the power.

It's a very difficult decision to make. This particular presidential election for PH is composed of presidentiables who are rather young and inexperienced in leading a country. I can note a few whom I am considering at this point: 1.) Manny Villar - he can make decisions without being much of a pleaser. Who did prove that he can rise from nothing to being a big shot. He may be corrupt (as they say) but I don't mind corruption if he will give back somehow 2.) Gibo Teodoro - He is young and seems to be serious in being a president. I am not so fond of PGMA but she did make some good infrastructure changes. If Gibo can continue those infra plans then I'd like him to take over 3.) Gordon - subic is one of the better cities or atleast the more progressive ones in the country. If he can make the country be progressive like that then I'm ok with him. He did lay low as a senator though I'm not sure about the others yet. I like Loren because she can represent the country well but she is a bit showbiz. She did seem to take luntiang pilipinas funds for her own campaign money but who knows if there is any truth to that
