With Thanksgiving coming around people are getting ready for the holiday and preparing for their families. Well every year my hubby and I and our 2 boys go to both mine and his parents for Thanksgiving. Not to mention the Thanksgiving dinner that we have with his family with all the uncles and aunts and ect. around the time of Thanksgiving. I am so glad that we don't have all 3 in one day. But anyways back to the point here. I am wondering how many dinners do you have to go to on Thanksgiving? Also what do you look forward on that day? What are your favorite foods on Thanksgiving day? Well for me I enjoy Thanksgiving because that is the time we get to bond with our families even if it is loud. That is the best part of it because with my side of the family everyone is almost out of my parents house on their own so it is hard to get everyone together in one place. But let me tell you though when that does happen at my mom's between children and grandchildren and in-laws together in the 4 bedroom house there is around 15 people. But that is what I call fun. What we do is split the food list up and share the responsibility of dinner so that it is not putting a strain on anyone. Now my favorite foods are my dad's famous coleslaw, my mom's cookies, my peanut butter cream pies, and well just about all of it. Most of all I enjoy the love that we all put into the food just so that we all can be together on this special day where we all can try to have everyone there together. So I will be sitting here to see what you all post. Happy Mylotting

Hi Seppy, I am so lucky enough to experience Thanksgiving Day Celebration in Washington, DC in 2006. That's my first time to have roasted turkey and lots of foods with my officemates and the teen moms-- our clients. I had a great thanksgiving celebration with them.

Hello, that is nice that you got to have that type of experience, knowing that the teen mom's know that there are people who do really care about their lives and futures like you and others do. I have to say that is a great thing to be thankful for. Keep up the great work with what you do. Happy Mylotting

it was such a great experience. I was one of the case manager's in the teen mom's program-- working with them is a blessing that is worth thanking God for!

Well, I am glad that you got to do that with the teen moms. I would love to be able to have a chance to do something like that with teen moms only because I had my first child just 15 days after I turned 18. I would love to be able to sit with a group of teen moms and just listen to their story and allow them to hear mine. That to me would be a great feeling. Happy Mylotting

My husband and I usually go over to his cousin's house. We have turkey, stuffing, candied yams and bread. For dessert we have pumpkin pie. I like spending Thanksgiving with his family. When we come home my husband and I will start decorating the house for Christmas. We put up the tree and get the decorations out. We will be singing Christmas songs. After the tree is up we will watch a Christmas movie. If possible could you please share you peanut butter pie recipe. My husband is a peanut butter freak. I think if peanut butter was never sold again he would go crazy.

Hello, sounds like you guys have a really good marriage. It also sounds like you have a great time around this time of holidays. It is good to know that everyone can have some place to go to for the holidays. Only if I could get it to be like that for other people who are not as fortunate as we are. Oh yes I can share the recipe of the peanut cream pie. In fact watch out for my next discussion because it will be posted there. I am hoping that a lot of people will share their recipes in the discussion I will be making. In fact add me so that I can let you know when I get the discussion up and running. Happy Mylotting

My whole family gathers for one. I am divorced so dont have the in-laws anymore. In my family, we break up the food list as well and have a ball!

Hello, it is great that you still have a family get together for thanksgiving even after being divorced. It's a plus that you can sit with your love ones and have a blast and not have to have a worry in the world. Well enjoy your thanksgiving holiday. Happy Mylotting

Well you already know what we do but others dont. We have all our kids here for Thanksgiving, however missing this year will be 2. I wish they all could be here. We have a huge dinner, starting with the Turkey, Ham, homemade stuffing (hubbies is the best!), Coleslaw (hubbies again is awesome), Harvard beets, Homemade mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, Corn or Garlic Beans and more. Then add in the pumpkin pies and usually another type, pumpkin bars, peanut butter cream pie (the ones you bring..lol), apple crisp or another dish with apples in it. Cookies, man I just realized we make a feast! LOL!

Yeah, now that you bring it up it is a feast...lol. If people did not know that you are my mom here well they do now...LOL. I have to say that this is the best discussion to say that we are mother daughter. I too wish that Kelsey and Ricky could be here. But next year it will happen I hope. We still gotta get the cookies done. Can't wait till I can come next weekend and help with them. I miss making cookies with you. Happy Mylotting

Normally we only have one Thanksgiving dinner to go to on Thanksgiving. I have not been in years, but one of my uncles always hosts an After Thanksgiving dinner the weekend after. It is normally not a Turkey dinner, but soups and salads and a chance to get together.

That sounds like tons of fun. An after thanksgiving dinner seems to be the right way to put an end on the thanksgiving month. It is nice knowing that now days that families get together with the aunts and uncles, at least the ones that they like. I hope that you enjoy your thanksgiving dinner when it comes. Happy Mylotting

We only have one Thanksgiving dinner, the only family I have here in this state is my Mom and Dad and they come to my house. Then my husband's grandma, my brother in law and his kids and one of my sister in laws and her family usually come here too. So we combine the families on Thanksgiving. I enjoy the cooking of the meal, I also enjoy all the compliments and of course the eating, but I also really appreciate sitting down at the end of the day to relax after cooking all day. Of course I also enjoy visiting with family. I guess you could say I look forward to it. My favorite food to eat on Thanksgiving is the sweet potatoes if I do them just right. Really well done sweet potatoes are delicious. Last years were not as good as the year before so I have to do better this year. The food all tastes better to me the next day. Love the left overs.

Hello, You sound like you have family that gets along great together. I could never have my in-laws and my family together because it would be too many people and a big hassle since there are a few people that can't stand each other on both sides. I too love leftovers, I think my favorite leftover is cold stuffing, but it has to be my dad's famous stuffing that I eat cold. I have to say that if there is one holiday I appreciate the most it is Thanksgiving because it is the one day out of the year that I get spend all the time in the world visiting my loved ones.
