What makes you to watch a movie on the cinema?

Hi there mylotter , There are several reasons why people watch a movie, which is on cinema or on TV, to watch on cinema we must spend couple of bucks, whereas at home we can watch a movie by renting or it aired on broadcast television So what decides you for going to the movies, whether because of the movie title, the actor, the story itself, or because a friend invited you, although you probably not like the movie, or you just enjoy watching a new release movies out? Personally, mine is the third, fourth and the last reason So how about you, what's make you decide?

The main thing that makes me go to the cinema to watch a movie is when it is starring Adam Sandler. I just love the man. Apart from that I must REALLY want to see the film. I know people that have to go to the cinema every month, regardless as to is there is something that they actually want to watch. The films I prefer to watch are comedy, horror and thrillers but never horror comedies I just find them stupid.

Yep, I am a big Adam Sandler fan. I have all his movies on DVD, apart from Spanglish as it is the worst movie ever in cinema history, and have watched them all many, many times. I have even been known to buy a DVD just because the film is made by his production company. In fact I buy that much of his stuff I think that I should receive some sort of reward for helping him financially and get where he is today! If dreams were true ...

One of the reasons that I know that I just cannot wait for a movie to come out onto DVD is usually when it was first a book that I read. I read all 7 of the Harry Potter books,, and I had to see each of the six so far movies in the theater because I could not wait until they came out onto DVD. I just started reading the Twilight books, and I realize that I just have to see the New Moon movie before the DVD comes out, I just cannot wait hehe.....but other than that, for the most part, yes I can wait until the DVD or it comes out on cable.

I only get to watch movies when my kids want to, and we watch mostly films for children. For those that I really want to watch for myself, I catch them on TV(DVD). My interest in a certain movie depends on the actors, the plot of the movie, and sometimes even the director. Sometimes I try to take a peek at some movies recommended by friends.

Oh I do watch TV with my kids, mostly cartoons and animated movies, it's our favorite pastime. But they're not interested with what I want to watch, like love stories and suspense. When this happens they go to the other TV which is in the living room, and they leave me in the bedroom to watch in peace . Have a good day!

The only way I will go to the theater is to support a film by a director I admire, or a film with actors I like. I really hate going to the theater and having to listen to people talk loudly and interrupt my movie experience with their childish behavior. I prefer watching a movie alone at my house, this way I am 100% focused on the story and have no one distracting me.

By a director? waw it's the rare reason to see but you prefer to watch it at home, that's fine, it's your own reason

Well yeah there's a few directors that hardly/never make crappy films. So you automatically know that the movie has to be at least decent. How's South Korea?

Because in my home, I can shout and laugh out loud. I can sit the way I want... I can cry... If I need to use the toilet, I can pause the movie... haha! that's it!

Wow... that is a lot of questions in one sentence! I will try to answer all of them! So what decides you for going to the movies, whether because of the movie title, the actor, the story itself, or because a friend invited you, although you probably not like the movie, or you just enjoy watching a new release movies out? Well, the answers would be yes, yes, yes, yes and yes! Most of the time, I go to the cinema due to the large screens, the sound proof room and that awesome sound system! Something one cannot afford to set up at home. But with tickets so expensive these days, I am very selective towards what I choose to watch in the cinemas today. If the movie has special effects that garners the HUGE screen and sound systems, then I will go to the cinema to watch it!

Hi ahgong! Well, it's not a question actually, it's just my option for examples what a simple answer LOL So you prefer to watch on cinema for a cinematic effects movie, it should be worth!

Mostly I like to watch movies in the theater because of the thrill and the fun that we get watching a newly released movie on a big screen. Also, if it is a 3D movie, I would prefer watching it in dome cinemas for more real experience with the special effects.

Usually if I go to the cinema, it is because there is a movie that I am dying to see or somebody has asked me to go. I don't go to the cinema very often. I prefer to rent movies and watch them on DVD.

I only watch on the cinema when I feel the movie is worth my every penny, and that if all that surround sound will increase the enjoyment of the experience. The last one I saw was Michael Jackson's This Is It. I just wanted that kind of presence to really be felt - it's cheesy, I know haha! The fact that it was also being shown for two weeks only made it feel like you had to make a run for the cinema as well.

In my case, I only happen to watch movies in theater because of my friends. Sometimes they would invite me to hang out and see a movie, so I couldn't just say no. I love spending time with them so if they want to watch, then I'll go with them. I think it's not really wasting money because if the movie is worth the pay, then it's good. And besides, watching in theaters once in a while could not hurt. Take care! :)

I chose going to the movies, though not deny that I also liked watching on tv or dvd. I am watching at the cinema because at the box office ratings. It is true that a movie at the cinema, we have to spend money, but we also have more facilities, such as comfort, and the voice is also a stereo, and a super wide screen. I watch tv or dvd on the reason for missing movies, and had passed many days. If a movie at the cinema, usually while looking for dinner, or just a walk.

Most of the time I wait until the movie comes out on RedBox. Come on you cant beat a dollar a day. On occasion a movie comes out that I just have to see at the cinema. I like watching scary movies at the cinema. The last one I saw was A Haunting in Connecticut. I was disappointed the movie was a little bland. I had actually had seen the documentary about this supposed true story and it was more entertaining than the movie version. When you rely on movie trailers its a guessing game about the movie's actual entertainment value. When you hit the jackpot and catch a great movie at the cinema you'll difinetly remember it for awhile.
