I always wanted a Mainecoon cat, but just haven't lived in any place where I could have long haired cats. Where we are now it would be terrible because of all stick tights and other wild seeds that get in even our short haired cats.

Well, they are, no denying it, a "high-maintenance" cat, but they're so loving & intelligent, they're worth it! If you have the time to comb them once a day, go for it! You won't be sorry! Maggiepie "WHERE'S THE BIRTH CERTIFICATE?"

Argh, I nearly had one. A couple of Christmases ago our neighbour came round to ask us if we wanted an abandoned ragdoll kitten she'd found in an alley. Sadly we weren't home and she took the cat to a nice shelter instead. If I had been home I know that as financially irresponsible as it would be, I'd take one look into its eyes and fall irredeemably in love and have to keep it. I think maybe it was fate that she wasn't meant to be mine. We already have two that are sisters from the same litter. We got them from a rescue shelter as kittens and we were lucky to get them together. They're my little angels. They're just mixed breed moggies, but they're beautiful.

A ragdoll cat? Is that a breed? All my life we have had pets so as an adult i usually have pets. I presently have 3 manx cats (no tails). They are anything but normal. I feel like im living with the 3 stooges most the time. The Kat family consist of; Miss Kitty Kat (the mama), Missy Sissy Kat and Bubba Kat. Miss Kitty act as though she has simease in her. The temperment. Im glad her children didnt inherit that part from her. Can you believe one day she went and sat on a guest lap and when he tried to pet her he got slapped in the face. Just her mentality...i can sit on your lap but dont touch me. She was the runt of her litter and both her children are bigger than her but she IS the BOSS. I love them all so much.

My grandson has two stuffed cats made with all crazy material. I got my daughter a sown cat and some crystal ones. She has a collection of them. I had a crocheted cat that you put on a coca-cola bottle when I was young. It was all the rage in my circle of friends as was the angel blouse back then.

How interesting. I wondered. I learned of new breed lastnight on the animal channel as well. I guess I should be alittle embarassed shouldn't I? Silly me. Believe me I have made bigger foopahs.

I have never heard of a Ragdoll cat. At first I thought you were talking about a stuffed animal. I love cats. I had a black longhair, a longhair calico, a couple white shorthairs and a black and white shorthair. They all had different personalities and I loved them all! I don't have any right now and I miss having them around although I don't miss the fur. The shorthairs seemed to shed more than the longhairs and I thought it would be the other way around. Are Ragdolls short or long hair, or can they be either. I don't know if all calicos are long hair.

They are long haired cats and they seem to just flop in your arms when you pick them up.

I never wanted a cat as a child. My mother is allergic to something in their fur... However, my partner has always had cats, and we now have two fair felines. One is a Russian Blue, and she's the most beautiful cat I've ever seen! http://www.catfacts.org/russian-blue-cat-facts.jpg (Like that - only even more gorgeous!)

The first cat I ever met (at age 3) was a Russian Blue. It was love at first sight. He was dumped on my grandparents' farm (#@%^*!!) by some cruel cretin, but we took "Blue" in. And you're right, they are so beautiful! Maggiepie "WHERE'S THE BIRTH CERTIFICATE?"

Our cat was also "dumped" - she's a rescue cat. I have absolutely no idea why anyone would turf out a beauty like her; she's gorgeous! Still: their loss is our gain.

We had a couple of cats when I was growing up too. I think we took them in when we found them outside our house roaming around. They had some kittens but we are not sure what breed the cats were. We mainly owned dogs.

all mine are rescues and none of them are Ragdolls, but they do seem to be a really cool breed and I would like to have one myself, but not as long as there is a needy cat out there for me to take in...

Wow, I just answered this one. I think Ragdoll cats are adorable, but I would not have such a placid cat. I like normal cats. In my view grey cats are the prettiest but any color is fine.

I had never heard of Ragdoll cats earlier. So when you opened this discussion, I just search through the net and got a look at them. They are cute. But let me be frank. Its like me wanting only German Shepherd dogs as pets once upon a time, until I adoped so many other Mongrels from the street. I felt they all gave you the same love and loyalty. So also cats. Once I had upto 14 cats. Now I have 8 of them and I love them all just the same. I am happy you have six cats. I guess they will multiply soon. Finding homes for the kittens is never an easy job for me. I don't know why people find it so difficult to care for pets.

I've only learned of the breed relatively recently, & never met one. They do look very cute, & folks say they're sweet, but to be honest, every cat steals my heart. I have found certain types, on the whole, cuddlier than others, but I'll take anything with a meow & whiskers. To me, they're just the most wonderful creatures God designed! Oh, me Too! I have always wanted a Ragdoll. For years now. I have over a dozen cats and the closest I ever got was a siamese with Cattitude and A couple of very beautiful long haired big boned girls. But I haven't had the all rolled into one cat. Maybe one day, I will eventually get my Ragdoll.. lol and my Great Dane.. I guess there is always hope!

Our cats are just the regular kind of cats, too. My daughter always wanted a rag doll cat, too. She has not gotten one yet and now she is 26 years old. Her daughter wants one now. Happy Mylotting

I had a tabby striped cat when I was younger. Now I have a Bombay cat, a part Calico part Persian cat and a Tabby Cat. My cats names are Blackee (she is the Bombay one), Kali (she is the part Calico part Persian) and my tabby cat's name is Smiles. I like ragdoll cats also. Is the picture by your name one of your cats? The cat is so cute.
