Do you believe that animals can tell whether someone is a good or bad person?

I was just thinking. Pets like dogs are sensitive to the emotions of the people in their environment. I just observed that my pet do doesn't always bark to strangers. Mostly he barks when there is a shady or suspicious person around. Since I've read that dogs can give uncoditional love to their owners, is it possible that they can detect bad people since dogs are good in nature?

I think,in a way, animals can tell when a person is good or bad.they have these protective instinct that makes them gauge what they see in that person.they watch a person's actions,to see whether s/he will do something good or bad.dogs are in protection mode when they see a new person stepping into the house.when they see how their masters relate to that person, they can tell if that person is a friend or foe.

Yes I think because animals are pure in nature. They are not capable doing bad things. They are inherently good that is why I think they can tell a good or bad person.

It's possible but we can't really tell. Dogs are protective in nature. They will try to back at any stranger good or bad. They are out guardians. That's for sure. But sensing a good or bad person is unsure. shadow41

I know that cats can. My cat Smiles likes our friends a lot. Whenever our friend's come over they are always greeted by Smiles. He jumps in their arms and sits in their lap. I think dogs can sense when people are good. My friend has a dog and every time I go visit he sits in my lap (and this is a 75 pound dog). He is very friendly. I told my friend one day, watch out a stranger may come over day and he would lick them like crazy.

I like the name of your cat, Smiles. I fond of cats as well. Your cat seems awesome to want to be cuddled by people. My cat is cranky doesn't like being touched too much. Thanks for posting.

Humm, good question. I don't think they can sense the soul of a person, but perhaps the actions of the person give them away. Maybe they can sense when someone is nervous, maybe we sent off an smell of some sort? My dog doesn't like some very good people so I have to assume she has a personal issue with something about them.

Yeah I think it's because their senses are much more sensitive than us. Thanks for posting.
