Of all the inventions that you can think of, which one do you think is the most important, or has given the most benefit to society? Why do you think that invention was so important?

Good morning Artistry, it has to be the printing press without doubt or we would never have had access to books. Then of course the printed word leads onto other things, what a dull place the world would have been without books.

Hi thea, Do hope that you and your little one as well as your Greek are doing well. Can you imagine how much we would not know if there were no books or printed material? We all learn through reading, all kinds of things. Books could be called the backbone of societies, our laws are printed, instructions, our history, our languages, the volumes of information everywhere in books is immense. So I would definitely agree with you that the printing press is one of the most important inventions of all times. Take care.

It has to be the wheel for obvious reasons which I need not go into. After that it has to be "the on/off button".

...Hi Ms Tickle, Hope you are well. I would say that the wheel would have to be in the top tier of the most important inventions. Look how far we as a society have traveled, literally because of it. The on, off button is a good one as well, let me add to that one, the remote control along with it. Take care.

Light is the most important invention. I hate sitting in the dark, so I really am glad that the light bulb was invented. Of course, electricity was a great discovery too.

...Hi amybrezik, You make a very good point. I do not like the darkness either. When you walk into a dark house, the first thing you think of is where is the light switch? I understand that people who live in Alaska have six months of daylight and six months of darkness each year. I don't think I could take that much darkness for that long a time. The electric light bulb would be one of the top inventions on my list. Take care.

I think just give the benefits to the society, let people get profits, this is most important.

...Hi bettydengs5, Society has positively benefited from all of the inventions have been developed throughout the years. The automobile, the airplane, the wheel for goodness sake. Amazing things have been produced and given to people to help make so many things easier to do on a daily basis. Talking on the telephone to someone five hundred miles away, how many other things are beneficial to society. Take care.

...Hi there phooart, You bring a smile to my face as I read your response. Is this because you would not want to be without the boxer briefs, or you would not want anyone else to be without them or both? I am not sure if you are serious or not so I will take you seriously. If we did not have the boxer briefs, I would assume that men would get used to going without them, without too much of a problem. I wonder now what men did before they were put on the market. Take care.

I think the most important invention was the scientist who discovered electricity and lots of intelligent scientists. Haha! without them, we can't enjoy the high level of civilized society. And we can never meet in mylot. So when we enjoy their effort, we should say thanks to the scientists and the parents who invented them. hahaha

..Hi zba3561239, I say along with you and a few others so far, that the invention of electricity is one of the greatest inventions for society. All kinds of things run because of electric, most of all we can see in the dark because of the electric light. The almighty television is kept running due to the electric current, where would we all be without that lifeline? So here's to electricity, may it flow forever. Thanks for your reply. Take it easy.

For me its the microwave oven. The greatest discovery of man is fire, with it we were able to cook food and keep themselves warm at night. With the microwave oven, man was able to cook food without fire and quickly too, with it city dwellers are able to cope up with their hectic schedule without having to spend hours cooking. Cheers!

...Hi there ybong007, I second the motion. I think the microwave, as long as you stay away from the front of it while it is on, is one of the most ingenious invention we have. It is quick, it does the job and it is definitely a time saver. Dinner or a fast meal is ready in no time, and you are on your way. Now the long term effects of the rays contained in the cooked food may be discovered as harmful to our health, but for now we cook and enjoy. Thanks for your response. Take it easy.
