Puerto Galera As a Tourist Destination

My childhood days were spent in Puerto Galera, one of the tourist destinations in the Philippines. Local and international tourists travel to this town in Oriental Mindoro to spend their summer holidays. Some of the popular beaches are White Beach, Coco Beach, Sabang Beach, Boquete Beach and so on. Puerto Galera is also a perfect place for snorkeling and scuva diving. It is not only the beaches or nature that you will fall in love with, but also the people, as most of the people are fun-loving and hospitable. :) I can say that once you spend your days in Puerto Galera, you will go back to this place again and again.

I agree with you! When I went there 4 years ago though, seems like the crowd made the beach a little dirty. That's really sad. I know that's because the tourists at times are not responsible enough to care for the environment. We went beach-hopping and that's where I found out this great island haven. No one's there except us and I could really feel the serenity of the place then.

Been there and stayed at Tamaraw beach Resort just beside the White Beach Resort. It was a great experience since that place is much more quieter than the White Beach since there are less people that go over there.

I've been there. It has its charm but there are other places that I think are a ten fold better to visit. The one thing that upset me there is that people don't take care of the beach. Garbage and refuse on the sand and the shoreline is scattered. Only a few establishments clean the area in front of their properties but no one seems to be employed to keep the beach clean.

I have never been to Puerto Galera, although it's just a couple of hours from Manila. But if time and money permits, I hope to visit the place someday. Cheers!

I find galera a fun place to visit if you want some partying. I've been to galera a couple of times before but now I'm afraid I won't be going there until they come up with a better route for travel. There has been a couple of sea accidents lately due to the typhoons and strong current. Galera is a lot like Bora except for the white powdery beach of the latter. Comparing the night life and value for money, I'd say galera is much better. It is a bit too crowded already though. So if you want to go to Galera then your purpose must be to party and not seek peace and quite. Palawan is the better choice if you want so tranquility.

Hi jaz2009! Welcome to mylot! Puerto Galera is so famous and you must be glad that you have spent your childhood days there. I am a Bora girl, spend the most of my weekends in Boracay! But sadly, never been to Puerto Galera yet. Does it has white beach too? Are the hotels cheaper compare to Bora or just the same? Wish i could go there someday. Have a great day! :)
