Men asking their girlfriends dad permission before proposing is: old fashioned or right thing to do? I think its right thing to do. What do you think?

I think it used to be something that was required now I think it is just a nice and respectful thing to do. Depends on the family these days!

HMMM well to be honest, ithink it is flattering and very responsible, but the reality of it is that it doesnt happen that often anymore. I have never had any man ask my father's permission.. I have many guy friends who have never asked permission to date anyone they have been with. I just dont think it really happens anymore. So with that being said any man who can do it, would be a responsible gentleman and im sure te father would approve.

Actually it depends where you live. In my culture the guy has to ask the father. So that they can get his blessing then he asks the daughter. However, it doesn't happen here in the United States or in any modern countries, I would say. If you go to the middle east or Asia, you'll see that that happens often. && I think it is a good idea. The father will see what kind of guy the guy is like and give his daughter advice.
