Grrrrr! Discussion response

I am not happy! Someone posted a referral link to my discussion and now it is in danger of being deleted! Yes, I did report it and I asked if it were possible to remove only the offending referral request but you would think there would be a filter for that by now. It was a good discussion too! Aren't there ISP signatures and stuff that can identify these people that continue to violate the rules?

Oh BROTHER! Don't you just love it! Was it an honest to goodness mistake or someone was trying to pull attention to themselves? I think just the one response will be removed. I'm not sure because this never happened to me that I know of. LOL I hope you don't lose your discussion that doesn't seem right. Maybe you will get good news about this today.

I honestly didn't know which discussion you were referring to. I must have overlooked it or not seen it when I posted. Please don't tell me it was in one of our infinite conversations. LOL

Hi C, I just check on your discussion as i am one of those who responded to it and deleting that would mean a minus for all of us. anyways, cheer up it's still on and good that you were able to inform the admin quick. Just this morning i responded to two other discussions that were deleted due to violating mylot rules. Now i am being careful in responding to discussions that is potential for deletion.

Why not K, if you have the power to do it go ahead. We will back you up. Inasmuch as we are given the freedom to express whatever we want to discuss here we have to be smart enough to follow certain rules and guidelines, to do this is to read it mylot guidelines and put it by heart... Goodluck SIR and no make sure that there will be no more violations (this is an order from your Commander hehehehehe).

yes, one response in a discussion can be deleted - I hope that happened and the rest of the discussion remained...

If it violates rules, or is very attacking you can ask it to be removed. I had a discussion where this one guy was really rude - and, in fact, I started a discussion ABOUT the response and it was eventually removed because other people complained about it too.

I wonder what the criteria is for asking for responses to be deleted. I had another discussion where the person's response was really negative and I just didn't think it was appropriate. I eventually rated it a minus.

It wasn't offensive it was just negative. Like if I said congratulations to you for winning a humane society award and someone said it was no big deal. It just bugged me.

They should just delete the response and not the whole discussion. Though it seems your asking for them to just delete the referral link. I would definitely comment and say "referral links are not allowed, please read the guidelines" then report it, and I am sure others will as well when and / or if they see it!

That really sucks if you are the one being penalized for others' offense. Hopefully though, this could be done to avoid losing all earnings you have incurred due to the deleted discussion. Maybe this is something that the admin might consider, being able to identify only the rule offenders and punishing them, without others having to pay for it as well.

THat is good to hear! At least, we are now aware that they do not unfairly generalize faults and penalize only those who are really breaking the rules.

That is good to know!!! Mylot is fair. It is really unfair if all of us will be penalized for the wrong of one person. It is beyond our control. I think your report on mylot did help.

That really stinks! Just another way for good people who follow the rules to be punished for the irresponsable actions of others. Hope mylot will be understanding and fair with you!

As long as it was not you that posted the link only the response should be deleted not the whole Discussion As you reported it that is good because admin will see it was a responder who posted the Link so your Discussion should be safe

You know what aggravates me? 99% of the people do not read the FAQ's and the guidelines. They just come here to try and get referrals constantly and sign-ups and everyone else has to go around looking at all that crap already. Or they go around making 10 of the same discussions...grrrr, lol!

When I first signed up I didn't know about all of that. I had a discussion deleted for talking about my star and another for giving a link to a website for vegetarian recipes. I used to have my earnings adjusted when other people's discussions were deleted and it was a little discouraging for a while. Now I am more selective about my discussion participation.

Hi Kash, I agree with you...there is really a need to review and from time time visit the FAQs to guide mylot members to avoid this issue or concern. i am one of those who'd been experiencing "minus-es" in my post numbers for some of the discussions that i responded to were deleted. i just hope this will be lessened and even avoided for all of us to be happy!

I'm sorry to hear that. It's horrible when you post a valid discussion and get some good responses and ONE person violates the rules, thus potentially getting the whole thing deleted! Hopefully MyLot will remove only the violating post and keep the rest of the discussion. -- If only people would READ AND FOLLOW the rules instead of being selfish! Best wishes! Everyone have a good weekend.

I don't know what people even hope to gain. If we decided to follow their links to the websites they are asking us to sign up at and complain they would probaly have those accounts closed!

you can reported the comments who did violate, then your discussions will not be loss. maybe someone put a referrals link but we must be able to defend to do the right things. It's I guess will be investigate by myLot staff.

hello, that's sad Canellita, it seems they're some other users who still thinks they can fool around with mylot. no, i think that response will only get deleted and not your discussion. how ever, if the discussion itself is a violation itself, you can bet that the discussion will get deleted and so as the following responses and responses attached to it.

I'm not aware that when someone post a referral link in a discussion, the whole discussion gets deleted? Is that not a bit unfair?

It is unfair but there are a number of people who not only violate the TOS they intentionally post discussions that they know will get deleted because they want to vent or complain about something.

So, that's why! That's the reason sometimes my number decreases. I didn't know that. Yeah, that's kinda unfair. I hope the earnings doesn't get affected though.

Hi Canellita, glad to hear that the offending post was the one to get deleted and not your discussion. It seems though that often the reports of such things are ignored which leaves me wondering. I entered a discussion about letters to then have the OP respond with one thing to every poster, a spam link to his business. I pointed out to him that this wasn't on and temper tantrum ensued. It's still up though with a few pages of his links. The chances are though if he'd done it in other peoples discussions and lost his temper then their discussion could have been deleted, especially if they didn't report it and it was seen.

Some people have no concern for anyone other than themselves. I guess if enough people complain that person will get their account deleted. The sad thing is that when deletion does happen those people always want to lay blame elsewhere.

I think I sent a note to myLota fe days ago asking if something that did not violate the TOS but was overtly negative could be deleted. It was a statement by someone who had nothing to contribute to the discussion than to call something criminal and it was really stupid and immature.

there was a classic case this weekend with someones insulting to others remarks deleted, the response was admin were bullied to remove them without reading them, it never ceases to amaze me that people can post personal insults and see nothing wrong with it and they are hurting someones feelings and those of their friends.

Hi, Canellita! Sorry to hear about that. It will be a waste if the whole discussion will get deleted. I have links posted in my discussions before and I just reported it to the admin and there was once I reported because it was offensive. They removed only the concerned response 'within seconds'. I should be impressed, but I wasn't because it was too quick. I still don't know how it works whether they do a thorough check or they just remove whatever is being reported. I hope it's the latter and I do hope there will be screening procedures for this kind of people who keeps breaking the rules.

They probably removed the posts so quickly because you requested and it was at a time where an administrator was on hand to do so.
