When I wear black I believe that it makes me look slim. It helps me alot. It doesn't matter what it is as long as it is black it helps me out. And plus black looks elegant on a woman. So how about you do the clothes that are black help you look thin? Happy mylotting Maria s.

You know I think it's kind of a myth that black is supposed to be a slimming color. I've actually found that the "fit" of a garment is more crucial than the actual color in looking slimmer. I love wearing black myself, as I think it's chic and looks great but I'm always conscious of how clothes fit. I've often seen for example, larger women wearing black clothing that they think is supposed to be slimming, but they didn't consider the fact that for example, the clothing was way too tight or something. If you're going to wear a badly fitting black outfit, it would be even more flattering to wear a perfectly cut, nice fitting "white" outfit that fits you to a "t". I've learned this myself while working in the fashion industry. People should just wear clothes that fit properly, that they can breathe in, regardless of color.

I think it does work, but only to a minimum--and you're correct: when faced with a choice, it's so much better to wear a properly fitting white outfit than a horribly tight (or baggy) black one. That said, when choosing between two properly fitting outfits, one black and one white, the black one will probably make you seem slimmer. I like Spanx, myself. :)

You know I do like spanx and bought it once though should have listened to the salesperson when she suggested that it's recommended to buy a size bigger. Now I know why because I bought my size and find it quite snug to even breathe in! I'll just have to buy the next size up one day.

I can't buy the next size up because I'm 4'10". If I bought a B it would be up over my face. :P

I like wearing black clothes myself, but because I am so big, people are sometimes intimidated by me. I either look like a bouncer at a club or look like I might kill someone. Some even thought I was a bodyguard for hire.

Yes, I agree that black will make me look slimmer, but it also depends on the cutting. Even though I prefer other colors as well, but I will always end up buying lots of clothes in black. I think besides the special effect it can do to your figure , it also goes with any color. So, it's easy to mix and match with black.

The shade black certainly does make you look slim, but it's not just the color that matters. The shape of the clothing is something to take into mind too. If you're wearing a shirt that's three sizes too big for you, then color really doesn't matter much. Haha, I love my color, but every woman should have a few elegant pieces of black in their wardrobe! I still need to find that little black dress that's right for me...

It actually depends on how its made and fit. Because some black clothes can make you look just as big so to me it will depend on how and the make of it.
