First off, take a deep breath. Everything will be OK. I know college life, especially the 1st year can be difficult. It's not always what everyone expected. Is it possible that you have taken on too much? Maybe you can drop a class without getting a failing grade? If your having to study instead of sleep I would possibly contact your college and ask for a tutor. Or talk to your professor and see if they have some way of helping you. You should not be losing so much sleep over this. I know it seems rough now, but you can do it! It won't last forever!

College is not easy - what school do you go to? What is your major? You're a freshman - checked out any school organizations that will keep you interested? It's important that you have fun in college. Maybe you're taking too many classes? Lighten up the load a little bit - i.e. drop a class that you can take later in the year. As a frosh, it's important that you give yourself room to adjust to your new environment. Good luck! College is fun - don't burn out! =) P.S. I'm done with college, but oh how I wish I was still in college.

Well if you're taking too many classes - and you "need" them. You won't really "need" them if you fail some of them because you're too tired to think and focus, right? College will teach you how to prioritize - and manage not just your time but also your energy. Don't stretch yourself out too thin. Make some room for growth and self-assessment.

Wow, it sounds like you have a killer schedule! Are you working, too, or just taking classes? I don't know much about energy drinks, except that many of them do cause you to crash and feel worse than you did before. You need to take a look at your schedule and see if there are blocks of time when you can rest...take a mental break or even a short nap. Surprisingly, a 15 minute power nap leaves you feeling refreshed. If you don't already have one, you need to get a day planner so that you can schedule your study time and anything else that you have to do in addition to going to class. It's easier to plan if it's in writing. I hope things slow down for you a bit.

Sorry I didn't get back to this discussion until now. Programming will make you crazy if you let it...so don't let it! When I was taking programming classes in college...and I've taken many...I became so obsessed and put in way too many hours working on the code. Pace yourself...you'll get through it.

First thing to do is to relax, take it easy, do not panic...you may be adjusting to the new schedule..so make a proper time management it's one of the most important thing to do, so that you will be able to organize everything. And the most important thing to do is don't worry, everything will be alright, just always pray to God and ask for His help. You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you.(Phil.4:13)

I have college in the early morning. By early I mean 6am. It is so difficult to get up that early, specially in the winters. But, this is my third year and I have got used to it. I do not need much sleep, so that is a bonus in such situations. I do to sleep at 12-1am and get up at 5.

I'm in my first year of college too. It is definitely very different from high school (although I think having classes at night is pretty interesting). What I think is important is getting enough sleep. Even if I had classes that doesn't end til 9 at night, I'll rush back to my dorm and sleep (after a quick review of my notes of course). I pulled a lot of all nighters in high school but I don't think it's a good idea to stress yourself out in college. Good luck to the both of us.

Hi, Andrepc13! I understand how the college years can be for one when they are just starting off. Have you ever tried the beverage, CranEnergy? It is by OceanSpray This energy drink is packed with essential B-vitamins. And it has 100% Vitamin C as well. I drink it all of the time when I need an extra boost. It also keeps me up at night much longer. It helps me so much for me to drink this. Try taking a light nap during the day for about 20 minutes. Refresh yourself. Maybe you should rest more and try not to overdue yourself. How many classes are you taking during the day??

Sounds to me like you need to budget your time a little better. College is hard and you're going to wear yourself thin for a while, that happens, but it's not healthy if it's on-going. You need to find a way to get things done and get sleep at the same time. First, don't use energy drinks, caffeine, or sugars. They're quick fixes that usually lead to really bad crashes and you end off worse than you were when you started. If you stay up late, do you get up early, too? Maybe try to block off a couple hours of your time during the day to take a nap so you're still getting enough sleep. I had a roommate who would get out of her morning classes, nap for two hours, and go do homework or whatever she needed to do because she was up late and that helped her cope. You also should schedule some time to relax. Part of your problem might be that you're constantly going and not giving your body time to cool and and reboot. Do something you think is fun or relaxing so that you can give your body (and your nerves!) the rest they deserve. :) Good luck with everything and I hope everything turns out well for you!

Hey i think instead bunking there boring classes you should rock them and make things go your way. Own those classes practice some humour and if you have some , go for it . Leave nobody alive , be careless on discipline stuff. When you find a situation where you give a punch and everyone would be laughing out then seriously go for it. Look there are two students every one remembers in any institute , the less likely most studious guy and the more likely rude dude with a wicked humour guy.

lmao thats cool but is hard to make humour out of maths and computer science lol, like i feel i am one of the sane ones in my class, the guys in my class live for the pressure.

college life - College life is full of various attemptations. At the same time, a detailed plan is a necessity if we want to enrich our life.
According to what I know, college life is full of various attemptations. In order to make your college become more and more substantial, a detailed plan is a necessity. Everyday, you can make a plan for the next whole new day, which is very important if you want to enrich your life. Besides, it is wiser to keep away from games, you see, there are many college students have been addicted to playing games and can't help themselves. No matter what you want to do, try to form a good habit is important fot you. Wish you success.

I think during the semester life gets pretty tough depending on how many classes you take. In my first semester I took about 6 classes and made my schedule in a way where I'd be going to school from 9am to 9pm on Tuesday and Thursday so I could work during the other days; it was exhausting!! I was always tired and could barely function, and it didn't help that I had something due every other day. Sometimes there's not much you can do but try to get through the semester to be able to relax and feel alive again once it ends. However, since this is your first semester, now you know what might be too heavy of a workload for you. Maybe you can consider taking less classes, or taking classes that are similar and would be easier to you.

I know where you are coming from, but how many classes are you taking? do you really need to take "all" the classes in one year? I am taking five classes and thats pushing my limits, last semester I took 4. I know it may lenghten my time to earn my degree but I am also not struggling as much and keeping up with my son, housework, etc. Don't try to do everything in one year, it will just make it harder. See what classes you really need, cut down if you have to, whats the sense to take them again if you are failing now. If you drop you will be able to take them again and pass with a better grade and good grade point average. Even if you cut down, you may still do your extra activities--just not partying. You want to do what is best for you and your health and your degree. Once you get your schedule and routine down, it will be much easier for you. Always write down class time, meetings, appointments, practices, and then you will find the days, times for relaxing, studying, and maybe even going to a gym or something. exercise is good for true energy and helps focus and brain. good luck to you.

College is hard, especially that first year until you can find a groove of everything. It's totally different from highschool to where your schedule was set for you. You will need to learn how to manage your time to where it fits your classes. If your not having much time to sleep it's time you go talk to your school and find out if you can cut back on your classes with out failing them or putting a bad mark on your transcripts.

Well, you seemed to be a very brilliant student in the sense of attendance. I mean in my college life, I used to bunk unnecessary classes where we already know that the professor or lecturer is suppossed to be taking revisions of what he has taught earlier so that we can have some free time to relax ourselves. Try to avoid lectures that are easy to grasp. You can also like try to make your whatever percentage of compulsory attendance is required by regularly going to college first and then taking it like alternate days to college after that so that you don't feel tired after a days break!!

There's still a chance in going to school, you have to set in your mind that school is important because it is one way of providing your family someday because if you don't go to school you can't find a decent job.
