What a great show? Every week it was excellent. A bunch of people thrown together to do a heck of job in a horrible situation. I listen to the words of the theme song (Suicide is Painless) sometimes and realize that you can take it or leave it. Life can be a mess, life can be pathetic, but, in the long run we have to have a reason to continue. And there is always someone or something worse than how we are feeling. That reason might be self respect or curiousity about what lies ahead. But whatever it is it keeps the old heart beating and the mind transferring its information out into the cold and sometimes unresponding cold river of life. What we need to remember is that life is what we make it. We alone mold it and make into something of worth and value. Our soldiers overseas must have suicidal thoughts and ugly feelings ongoing. But they stand tall each day and go forth and do what has to be done to make life worth living for each and every one of us here at home. Do any of you have relatives in Iraq? What do you do to keep their moral up? Do you sometimes feel low and dispondent? What do you do to bring yourself back up again? What can we do to help in some small way the families whose relative is serving over seas?
Through early morning fog I see
visions of the things to be
the pains that are withheld for me
I realize and I can see...
[REFRAIN]:
that suicide is painless
it brings on many changes
and I can take or leave it if I please.
I try to find a way to make
all our little joys relate
without that ever-present hate
but now I know that it's too late, and...
[REFRAIN]
The game of life is hard to play
I'm gonna lose it anyway
The losing card I'll someday lay
so this is all I have to say.
[REFRAIN]
The only way to win is cheat
And lay it down before I'm beat
and to another give my seat
for that's the only painless feat.
[REFRAIN]
The sword of time will pierce our skins
It doesn't hurt when it begins
But as it works its way on in
The pain grows stronger...watch it grin, but...
[REFRAIN]
A brave man once requested me
to answer questions that are key
is it to be or not to be
and I replied 'oh why ask me?'
[REFRAIN]
'Cause suicide is painless
it brings on many changes
and I can take or leave it if I please.
...and you can do the same thing if you please.

I watched Reruns but really enjoyed the show. I remember when I first found out that the theme music had lyrics and what the lyrics were. I was shocked, but I did eventually go back and read the lyrics again. It's a sad song but it kind of has this thing about it that makes me realize just how precious life really is.

I read all but don't always know how to comment back to the whole thing. If I have no intention of reading a long post, I won't bother responding. I read it all, sorry I couldn't respond to all of what you have said, but next time I may think better of responding at all.

Maybe it was alot more extreme over there than the show portrayed. Ugh! I don't have anyone in the military either.

Hello celticeagle Believe it or not I have never seen a full episode of Mash. I do know what the show is mostly because it would come on a channel that I was watching a previous show on and then would get busy with something and would get glimpses of the show. I don't think it is bad i just don't think it is something that I would get into much. I have never paid much attention to the song either but the lyrics are really deep and real thanks for sharing them.

I was really trying to bring out some feelings about the guys and gals overseas but I failed that it seems pretty miserably. I hope you get a chance to see MASH. It is a fun show with alot of great characters as well. Hope you catch it!
