Websites are usually free too, though, so I'm not sure where you're coming from..I'd prefer a blog just becuase it's more personal and is more like a journal than a website, where you kind of have to start from scratch.

A website can be termed as your personal or business catalog. Whereas a blog is just a diary of the events, opinions, suggestions you might want to share with others. Most people prefer a website as the webpages and websites are the backbone of the internet. And add to that the scope of a website. You can experiment with your website any way you want. In a blog you have to follow the diary pattern or journal pattern which restricts your posting to dates and months. Websites are also available to be hosted for free but the domain name will be shared with the hosting company. For example, www.yourwebsitename.hostingcompany.com

Well, a blog has not the features of a website.. A website can have members, blog don't only readers who comment on articles.. I think that's the biggest difference bettwenn them.. As I told in a friend, I bilieve that website is only needed if you want members to have acccess on it, if you want only to share information, a blog is good.. Another difference, is that blog is not usefull to add menus at the top, at the left e.t.c...

Blog are meant for journal like content. It would look bad if you want to sell something. Imagine if Microsoft or Sony use blog for their main site. Imagine how hard it is to find the product you want to see or to download.
