discussions you made when you were new here? It is a great experience going through the discussions you made as a fresher long time back here in Mylot. Every discussion you made takes you back to the particular situation and mood you were in at the time of making it. And you could reminisce how you made your first friendship with your closest friend now in Mylot. And you also can see how far you have improved from that “wandering aimlessly without able to get a grip of Mylot “attitude and how much of confidence you have gained here over the time. And you can definitely see the improvement in the style of presentation of your friends too.

Yes and what a shock I get. They were awful! I gradually got the hang of things after manymonths of watching what was needed here to create an interesting discussion and now I think I manage it whenever I get round to starting one. I have friends, one inparticular, who have fished out my older discussions and brought them back to life. Many of the topics will not go out of date but when I read over them I can see that I could have got much more interest in them if I had exposed the topics in the way I do now. Some of the titles were just pointless and not eye-catchers at all. So we learn a lot on here too!

It does feel good to read those old discussions. Most especially those that Ive had good discourses on some responses that Ive had. Those were fun, and some lasted for even more than 6 months of just exchanging comments. In terms of the ideas and the way that I present them, I think that Im more fun when I started out.LOL I mean the tone that I phrase my created discussions that time seems so perky. I guess I was that excited in myLotting.LOL! I also didnt regard the nature of the topic that I wanted to discuss. I mean those seemed like casual and sometimes even whimsical topics. Over time, I seemed to have had a more serious tone when creating discussions. I do try to recreate that 'fresh' feeling but those topics need inspiration, which I dont have a lot of these days. I vaguely remember the first friendship request that I had in this site. I didnt have any referrer so there's no 'automatic friend'. I think it has been more than a week before I had friends. I didnt send requests because I was too focused on responding to discussions. I remember that it was my 'mission' to respond to at least 10 discussions a day in the no responses page. Imagine my delight when I was notified that someone sent me a request. Too bad that the person didnt remain active though. As for my closest friend now in myLot, we became friends when it seemed that I was responding to a lot of his discussions and he was the same with me. It was an unconscious thing because it was not my habit to look at the creator then, just the topic. He sent the request, I accepted, the rest is history.^_^ Ah, you're referring to what I call the "myLot withdrawal syndrome". Thats the stage where a member has had too much of myLot that it kinda suffocates him/her yet he/she cant not at least login and read. Need not reply or create, just login and browse. Ive had the worst case of it.

Hey bala! I think that is a very good question! When I do look back on some of my very first discussions sometimes I laugh or am just plain embarrassed about how naive I was then! I have learned so much from so many different people from all over the world by being here at mylot and am so grateful for the opportunity being here has brought me! And I am also grateful for all the wonderful friends that I have made in the year and a half that I have been here! It certainly has been an interesting experience in many ways!

Yesterday as I went back to resolve the unresolved discussions that were pending for a long time I slowly got sucked into them and was enjoying reading the my old discussions and responses I got for them. I just feel great at the vista of things I learnt here, the participation in their happy and sad moments and sharing my happiness and whatever knowledge I have with them. I am happy that I joined this site. This place gives me immense pleasure and satisfaction. Thank you my friends. I love you all ‘the beautiful people’.

Yes I did that recently actually. I looked right back to my very first discussion here and I could certainly see my inexperience here and how I was living at the time. It is interesting to look back on things I wrote at a different stage of my life. I particularly like reading my old journals and articles from a while ago. Perusing my old discussions and articles brings back many of the emotions I felt at the time and it is interesting to see how much I’ve grown and how my life has changed.

You are Abelson right Paula. If you go back and have a look at the discussions it feels like a time travel.A particular discussion or response takes us to that point of day ,mood and situation and make us dwell in that place for a while. And it is amazing to see the confidence, mastery of communication and the friendships we gained over the years. Spread a smile

I've done that a few times Bala and actually felt a range of emotions from sheepish, confused for some of the silly discussions. Felt great about some of the discussions which had good interactions in them and even laughed and smiled at some of them. You are right about the improvement, but at the same time, there seemed to be a different enthusiasm. They are special allright moreso because of the wonderful friends i've been able to make.

I did, and it's a lof of fun, Balasri. I have seen my English improve, the quality of my answers improve and off course the quality of the discussions I have posted myself. One of my early discussions was about pickle flavoured gum that I heard is sold in Japan. Thanks to a mylot friend I managed to resolve it, but it has been on my unresolved list for 3 years. Over time you learn which things will interest people and which topics have a long shot at ever getting a single response. Even though I have learned this, if I really like a topic, I will post it anyway .

That's for sure.We can see how we leaned the nuances of Mylot and it's members slowly. And no doubt it brought great improvement in our language and the typing speed.

Definitely, my long stint here has seen dramatic improvements in my writing presentation. I have slowly learned to communicate with people from all walks of life and educational backgrounds and my regular presence in mylot has given me much confidence in voicing out my opinion and their acceptance of my views have further inspired me to go on mylotting as I may say, have come almost parallel to others strength in thoughts and words. From mylot I have graduated from being a naive and unwilling participant to one that is bold and fearless to undertake any topics posted here. I am thankful to have found mylot as it has unearthed my hidden talent in writing and polished further to be on par with others though I might not be literally good as yet but am happy that my discussions are well understood, by looking at the pages of responses I get from every discussions that I posted. It is well worth my time and efforts spent in mylot.

Hi bala, I was in the exact situation in last week. I never recheck my old discussions intentionally and I would like to avoid the same for checking my improvement. But I was forced to do the same because one of my friends digs out all of my old discussions and I had to reply back to all. I really impressed to learn my improvement and I am really thankful to that friend who forced me to look back. It was a wonderful experience to know, where we were and where we are now.

That is the point. We look like the one admitted to a new institution and who were trying to make our mark here somehow. To see the confidence ,expertise and the understanding we gained in this place and our friends is something to be experienced to explain.

I've started to go back through and look at old discussions before but I think it'd take a long time to do. For now I'll just make more, and try to catch up to all the discussions, responses and comments I need to catch up to. Yes, the writing styles differ as we "age" here on mylot... We get more mature, or more goofy depending on if we were goofy starting out or more mature and stern / strict starting out here on mylot.

Oh, its all a wonderful experience..Insofar as improvement, I don't know..There's still a lot of dumb questions bouncing around in my head and were they to escape to Mylot there'd be folks wondering 'What's happened to da boy?!' And, no it hasn't hit me yet. In fact, it wasn't a thought until you mentioned it, but I don't doubt that the nostalgia of my posts will come and settle in, perhaps on a slow day when the little mind hasn't enough to keep it busy, and more notions will start bubbling away on their journey to becoming a post, giving new life to bits and pieces of old posts.. As for style of presentation..well..An expensive gift can come in cheap wrap, and a cheap gift in expensive wrap. The quality of the presentation does not change the quality of the content and that's what Mylot is for, is it not?..the quality of the content.. Enjoy!

You have said it perfectly right. They way you present a discussion doesn't mean much unless the quality of that discussion is noteworthy.Good point. Thanks pal.

Yeah I do. I check my old discussions every once in a while. It's a great feeling especially if my discussion had lots of responses on it. I can also say that I've improved here at myLot. Before my discussions oftentimes gets deleted. Now it doesn't because I don't make that much now. Haha. But still looking at those old discussions of mine is wonderful. shadow41
