It's amazing how medical machines have changed in the last 20 years.

A car accident victim from the 1980's had been what seemed like a coma/vegetative state for 23 years.. No one knew this man could process what was going on.. Understood what was going on, he was just so paralyzed from this accident that he had no way to communicate. A new brain scan machine picked up that this man was not in a coma at all, and hasn't been for a very long time.. He's communicating on a computer now and hopefully with some time and work he might be able to use his brain a little more. This just shows that the governments around the world aren't just withholding their finances. Without this kind of money, and doctors no one ever would have caught that this man was conscious.

I read that today! I think it would be so insane, to live 23 of your life with no one knowing you weren't in a coma! I just can't imagine the agony. I really hope this man is able to recover enough to enjoy the rest of his life.

Same here! As far as I read in the paper he's communicating with one finger right now with a computer. But just imagine all these people watching you, wondering when or if you're ever going to wake up and all you can do is sit there and wait for someone to notice you're aware of your surroundings.
