People who don't flush...

I have been seeing so much of this lately and it's really starting to get on my nerves! We all know who they are. These are the people that don't flush toilets in public places, because they are too slovenly, lazy, inconvenienced, and just plain pig like! There is nothing worse than going to use the washroom to be confronted with someone else's "deposit" in the toilet that they had left behind. I once knew a woman that would confront these people when they did that. She would be very vocal about it and say something like: You don't expect me to have to see your business in the toilet do you, so why don't you just flush it yourself! How disgusting can you be! She said that this tactic often worked. Well, several a week after I meet up with my trainer, I often use the washroom there to shower. I've noticed that every day this week, someone hasn't been flushing the toilet and it's really grating on my nerves. I think that I'm going to post a sign and tape it on the door, reminding people to respectful and flush! What would you do?

Sometimes, the loo takes ages to fill and the person will fruitlessly tug on the handle to no avail. When that happens to me, it's sooooo embarrassing, especially if someone else is waiting to go in! I've been in situations where I've done "no. 2's," and flushed - and it's still there! The cistern is gonna take, like, forever and I'm in a rush, so I end up putting loo paper over it to disguise what I've done! If the loo paper has run out, I flee with my head down!

hi jazzsue yes I think that has happened to a lot of us and you really do not know what to do,you flush but the thing does not take. and of course there is nobody around to report a toilet that is not working properly and usually one cannot just stand there and wait as probably you have to be someplace at a certain time.

jazzsue & hatley, Ok well you know that is something completely different, you know pulling the handle, string, etc and not having the toilet work. That's nothing to do with someone being unavoidable.That's completely unavoidable and definitely not our fault. I know that's happened to me before that after using the toilet, and attempted to flush it and it just kept overflowing. Usually if I see someone else come in the bathroom after me, I'll just mention it to however. PS Don't you the toilet, it's overflowing. ;)

Where are their manners? Yes there are really some people like that who don't feel ashame of themselves. They don't care whether they left the toilet bowl dirty. They don't have any respect to the next or other users. That is always present or happening in any public rest rooms...

I know I literally want to shake those people or strangle them. Haven't they learned any manners? Why do they keeping doing that. My mother was actually mentioning to me that she has this co worker at her job, who is famous for not flushing the toilet, after she has made a "deposit". I told her that her staff should have complained to the Manager, to speak to this persona. That is absolutely gross!

The pee is already bad more the poo!!! Aren't they ashame of themselves... I mean why do they need to let the whole whole see their poo poo!!! That is ridiculous! That co worker of your mother must be reported to the management be reprimanded... No breeding!!!

I really hate using a public restroom but if the urge hits, I go. The newer restrooms don't give a human a choice about flushing. They have automatic flushers. At least the ladies room does but don't know about the men's room. Once the body weight is lifted off the toilet, it flushes. I think you should make a sign as a reminder. That's just plain nasty. Or you could talk to management and see if they will post a sign.

Oh I know I absolutely love those newer toilets, they're great aren't they? Yes, it's unfortunate that not all places have them though. I especially like the ones that not only flush, but revolve and move around. You know I am going to talk to management about that nasty problem, or perhaps I might make up some signs and post them in the stalls. We'll see if it still continues...So disgusting though because it's in a really classy, very high tech building. Pigs like that belong in a pen!

Luckily i dont have those issues here at home, my boyfriend always flush the toilet, but he doesnt always put down the toilet seat, and that can also tick me of, it cannot be so had to put down the toilet seat including the lid, because then the toilet looks much more "appealing" and both genders would have to lift atleast the lid to use the toilet. If i was in the situation where somebody forgot to flush out im the type of person that would mention it, but it is very rarely i actually happen to use a toilet where somebody forgot to flush it. On the German highways the toilets automatically clean and flush themself when you have left the room, it basically registeres your movements. Unfortuately it is not on all restplaces these toilets are put, but only with gasstations and so forth. But you also have to pay 0,50 EUR to use these, but i certainly prefeer that rather than another random toilet you dont know when last was cleaned.

It sounds like a brilliant idea to put up a sign at the toilet, and then take it down again once people actually behave and remember to flush. We have a nice picture of a duck sitting on a toilet looking at you saying something like "Remember to flush, your mum doesn't work here!"

You are definately right about what you are saying. Its so unfair on others. I dont think they do the same thing at home. Its really really unfair. Some toilets are disgusting. They have everything a bin and flushing but there are people who prefer to throw things in toilets instead. They should be given fines if caught.
@ilyzium (1197)

26 Nov 09
Oh yeah that would be a fabulous idea, giving fines to those offenders, because when you think of it, that's just ridiculous. What are these people pigs? Apparently so I think. I just think they're very low class and they've never had manners instilled to them by their parents. Well I'm really getting fed up with these people. Oh the other day I mentioned this problem to the owner of my gym. I've noticed that this person hasn't been flushing for about a month, because after every session, I come to the gym and find their little "present" there in the toilet. The manager has deduced that it must be one of the newbies from their Bootcamp, that ends right before I come to the gym.

Its really irritating to find these people. What does it cost to flush?! I once had a problem with the flushing. It didnt want to flush. I think I spent about 10 minutes inside the toilet to wait until it flushes.

Yeah, people who don't flush the toilet to me have no respect for others. I have to use some bad language here but simply humans have to clean after we go to the toilet otherwise we would be considered dogs/animals that don't do anything about their litter.

Hi, ilyzium. Go ahead and make your sign. I hope that you awaken their attention as well. This happens so much at Walmart here in the town that I live in.. It gets so bad that when I want to use the bathroom I can't... All the toilets are filled with waste of urine and the number two. It is very disgusting!!! I don't even sit on the toilet, I will stand up and use it.. I don't know why people don't flush behind themselves. I wonder if they are nasty at home like this? If so, it is sad!
@ilyzium (1197)

26 Nov 09
You know that's right! Yes I have noticed that about Walmart washrooms and they're absolutely disgusting! I rarely go in them because of that very reason. Well, I don't know if those people flush at home. I suspect they probably do just because I couldn't see them wanting to clean their toilet later on, afterward. However, I will say that if they're that rude and slovenly about the toilet thing, they're just plain rude and slovenly people about everything. Pity their family or friends. Actually today I complained to the gym Manager who informed me that he'll be speaking to the Maintenance Manager to make up some signs for the stalls. Well if I don't see those signs next week, then I'll just print them up myself and paste them in each stall. Desperate times call for desperate measure. ;)

This IS annoying in public, and also with kids lol. However, I have no qualms about flushing it myself if there is no choice (only 2 stalls and someone is in the other one) I'll also unclog it if there is a plunger available. It DOES annoy me but what can you do, avoid the bathroom? I might say something depending on if I actually saw someone just walk out without flushing. I think a sign is a good idea. However, usually the guilty people need much more than a SIGN and a CONFRONTATION to stop them. They need to be highly embarrassed lol.
@ilyzium (1197)

Ooh yes, you know I really like the idea to "highly embarrass" them as you mention, because you're right that a sign is not likely to make them change their rude behavior. Well, surprisingly at my gym, as of the last week this has stopped, so I'm thinking that the person that wasn't flushing is no longer there? I suspected that it was one of the people from the boot camp that was going on. Ok, small children I can understand and maybe even the elderly, but anyone else? No way that behavior is just inexcusable.

i do know that i hate touching it to flush. my thing is why do men have to pee on the floor in the bathroom
@ilyzium (1197)

26 Nov 09
Well, I don't like touching it either, and sometimes I use a kleenex to touch it instead, and then wash my hands afterwards with my hand sanitizer. It's great, I carry that thing with me all the time. Yes, why do some men pee on the floor? Why can't they just aim for the toilet? How hard is it to miss? I think those guys are just being lazy because they can't be bothered to actually aim for the toilet.

Yes me too and I have been seeing it not only in public bathrooms but also at work and I would hae thought that they would have a differnt mentality.I am still to see what is so hard in just pressin a little knob after you have finished with your mess ,its not like you have to carry water in.These people are just nasty and slfish and little regard for others who will have to face your mess and the cleaners who will have to clean it ewwwwwwwwww

Exactly! How hard is it to flush a friggin toilet? It's not rocket science or anything, just press the button, lever, etc. Yes I feel so sorry for those poor cleaners that have to clean up the mess of these animals, because that's what they are! They are no better than pigs, who should just live in a pen, and not amongst civilized society like the rest of us! I just think it shows what a lack of class they have, and completely rude and selfish.

They do not want to know if anyone else annoyed with them. They should be more professional not to leave footprints on the toilet. Sometimes I find it obscene throw something in the toilet and I have to clean it. Where when I use it become uncomfortable and look around the room.

You know I would love to have someone actually confront one of these piggies because I'm so curious as to what their reaction would actually be. I mean really? How would you justify leaving your crap in the toilet for everyone to see? Tacky and gross and so are these people! You know, I complained 2 days ago to the gym Manager who mentioned it to the Maintenance Manager, well for 2 days now there has not been any "deposit" in the toilet? Also I believe that this "offender" is one of the people from the Bootcamp class too. Well if I ever run into her, I'll really let her have it!

ha ha! Yes I'm going to print out one of those signs myself and tape it into the washroom tomorrow. Do you think I should put one in all 3 of the stalls, or just one in the bathroom wall? We have those kind of women in the office.. I don't really know the reason why they don't flush..I mean, don't they tell you when you learned how to use the toilet, that you have to flush after every use?! I just hate it, that we are all professionals, but when it comes to hygiene, some people are just lost... There are already posted notes on every cubicle that we have to flush after use.. but still..

Ingkingderders, You also have women like that in your office Can you complain to someone about it, like your Manager or office Manager, so it can be brought up in your staff meeting? Joannaleed, Ooh, yes,yes,yes!!! I love that idea of a fine in the office. You know I never thought of that? Well, I should tell you that today I went to complain to the owner of the gym, who's going to get the maintenance Manager to make up signs to put in the each stall, we'll see what happens...Although if I happen to run into the person and actually witness that they've done that again, I'm just going to confront them and not have some nice words about it.

Whenever this happens to me I give the people the benefit of the doubt at first and think the toilet may not be working properly. Usually I don't have a problem so they must not have either. I find it hard to believe that people wouldn't flush on purpose. I use Purell or something like it instead of using the sinks to wash my hands. I don't do it if there is someone in there with me that I don't know. I don't want them to think I'm a slob. Unless it always happens at the same place how can you figure out who it was? Maybe putting a sign up will work. I can't think of anything else you can do short of not letting the public use the restroom.

You know I do occasionally think this as well, that oh maybe the toilet isn't working or something, but then I flush it and well, everything goes down. But yes that has happened to me before that the toilet just didn't work. However, in this particular washroom there are 3 toilets that work really well, so there is no excuse for this person being slovenly and rude. Because it is a large business building, it would be difficult to find out who it actually is, so I'm just going to post signs in the washroom stalls. We'll see if it still continues.

People don't flush after using the toilets in public places.They just care about there personal toilets.If we don't flush it becomes inconvenient for the other user to use the toilet.Also it is a matter of personal hygiene.The people just develop without learning manners.

Yes I think so too. Some people just have no manners or respect for others, much less themselves. It makes me wonder though, if they're that slovenly and disrespectful in a public place, what are they like at home? I don't think I'd want to know...:( I think I will print out some signs and post them in the stalls. I'm thinking about how I'm going to word it now. Any suggestions? I admit I would love to be blatantly rude about it, but that might irk this person even more to the point that they might be even more stubborn about refusing to flush. Talk about an issue?

Yes, it is really disturbing to see people that do their 'business' in the toilet and just don't flush. I wonder why they would do it. I think they don't want to get germs from the handle or just lazy. You could just wash up at the sink. There really is no excuse to not flush after you are done.
@ilyzium (1197)

If these selfish people are so concerned about germs, they should realize that leaving their "deposit" in the toilet is germs, it's a breeding ground for more bacteria, plus if they're that concerned about "germs" then they should either touch the handle with a kleenex or something, or do us all a service and not use public restrooms! Ooh it just makes me so mad!

I have no idea that women also do this LOL. I thought a woman only leaves her deposit unflushed if the flush is not working. As it turns out, there are women who are as disgusting as men when it comes to leaving their sh*t behind. I have a colleague who can't help but leave his deposit unflushed it's not because there's no water or the flush isn't working but his sh*t is just too big for the flush to flush it down, good thing we have another toilet in the office. But it leaves the ladies often frustrated but it seem most of them just got used to it that when that certain toilet is closed it's because it still got his thing there clogging it. Cheers!

Well as my husband often tell me, there are a lot of women that are just pigs! You'd be very surprised too. Actually I don't remember who it was but someone was telling me that in their gym that they go to, they actually had cameras inside or something. Anyway, one day they could not believe their eyes. There was a woman that was using the garbage can as a toilet!! OMG! She was also a very well dressed beautiful woman and they were so grossed out when they found that out. Yes there are a lot of scuzzy people out there, aren't there? Just no class...Geepers, hasn't your colleague thought of perhaps flushing the toilet a few times to get his "deposit" to go through? That's just gross. Oh well I guess we've all encountered someone with an unclean bathroom habit it seems...

Lessons learned me and my family learned many years ago. Never go to public toilets when you know that is not safe to do so. If one has to go, then we would prefer to go on restaurants where the toilets are much properly organized and keep clean. And there are very few of them. But in malls or public buildings, damn, better to have a kidney problem than going to the toilet. People do such horrible things while inside a toilet cubicle, the worst one it the one you mentioned. Damn, I hate those people doing it.

I hear you!! Well usually I think you'd expect that in a nicer washroom, that there wouldn't be this issue, but then again these lazy, pig like individuals are everywhere...Although I have gone to some restaurant washrooms before where the washrooms were hideous! You know they say that if the washroom in a restaurant is very unhygienic then the kitchen is supposed to be worse! Something to consider also when you're dining somewhere.

In public bathrooms I think people should always flush to be respectful. But I will say when I'm home alone, I'll wait for a couple trips to the bathroom before I flush. Sometimes I pee a lot, and I'm really OCD about conserving resources/saving the enviroment.

Ok well being home is something different. I admit if it's just pee, that I won't flush it overnight, just to conserve water, however if it's the "other thing" then yes I will right away. Last thing we all need are some lingering odors in the washroom. lol
