I'm just curious, is it true that Americans give more importance to thanksgiving day than Christmas day? What is thanksgiving for any way and how does it differ from Christmas day?

Christmas has more of a religious meaning than Thanksgiving because Christmas celebrates the birth of Jesus. So, no, as far as my family and I go, Christmas is more important. Thanksgiving does not involve gifts...only food...Christmas involves gifts and food so gatherings can be more hectic on that day.

hi ybong007 no not really we have a day called thanksgiving in remembrance of the pilgrims that came here and founded this country,we give thanks for all that we are greatful for and it is an important day for us christmas is to commemorate the birth od Jesus Christ and has taken on a santa claus gift giving frenzy that is not very christian. No I think Christmas ranks first then Thanksgiving, giving of thanks for all that we have.do you not have something similar in the Phillipines too? if not why not??

For me Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday mainly because its about family, good food and giving thanks for all we have in our lives. Its so much more relaxing then Christmas time and all the fuss of it.
