More proof Obama is the Messiah

Only 13 percent of Americans surveyed by Harris Interactive on behalf of the American Bible Society was able to correctly credit the Bible as the source of Proverbs 31:8-9, the Contemporary English Version of which states: “You must defend those who are helpless and have no hope. Be fair and give justice to the poor and homeless.” Fifty-four percent, meanwhile, credited the passage to other sources, with President Obama cited as the most likely author by Americans (16 percent). Behind Obama, the Dalai Lama was cited as the most likely author by survey participants (nine percent), followed by Martin Luther King Jr. (eight percent), Oprah Winfrey (four percent), and U2 frontman Bono (three percent). What do you think? With everybody wanting God taken out of everything, what do you think of Obaa quoting the Bible? I think it is the greatest book in the world, but so many people won't pick it up.

I am Christian and wish more people would take some time to read the Bible. However, I respect the various religions in the US. So it doesn't bother me that people can't correctly site the source of the quote - it bother's me that they don't support or understand the message that is being delivered.

I'd like to know what the people thought when they found out the quote is from the Bible. I also wonder if it will cause them to wonder what other words of wisdom are in the Bible and if they will check it out.

I'm NOT surprised that nobody credited any prominent conservative Republican with saying such a thing! Annie

The point wasnt party affiliation. The point was that people completely ignore the teachings of the bible and we wonder why we are in the state we are in

"You must defend those who are helpless and have no hope. Be fair and give justice to the poor and homeless." That sounds like the words of a liberal to me! Are you saying Obama isn't so liberal after all...? Annie

I can tell you I definitely would not have cited that passage as anything OBAMA said. Likely not the Dalai Lama, Martin Luther King jr, Oprah Winfrey, or Bono. When you look at the passage, it's really not attributable to any one person, especially not anybody alive today lol. I see nothing wrong with people quoting something from the Bible - in this case primarily BECAUSE it is something good, non judgemental, and follows how we should treat our fellow citizens anyway. It IS kind of laughable that people surveyed would think it was authored by one of those people though... in my opinion. I don't believe any of them could come up with something that great on their own... perhaps MLK Jr but not the rest of them.
