Which is more difficult? To be deaf or to be blind

Our senses are the most vital senses in our daily living., They allow us to work, to learn, to avopid dangerous stuff, etc. Two of these are the sense of sight and sound. If you are to choose one between the sense of sight and sound, which do you think is more dispensable and why?:)

I have friends who are deaf...they're a couple with children who are now grown...and I have to say that living without the abilitly to hear is easier in my opinion than living without the ability to see. They compensate by being able to read lips. I've learned to sign over the years so I think, if I had to choose which sense to give up, I would rather not be able to hear than not be able to see.

I agree with you. There are some alternatives that deaf people can do to compensate for there loss of hearing. On the other hand, there is no way for blind people to really comepnatse for it cause they would never be able to see the beauty of the world or even grasp it to some sense.

its great, that you now have a better appreciation of your sense organs. It really is difficult to lose even one of these.

I will choose to be blind. It's hard for me to lose my hearing because i love to hear the music to make me relax. I seldom talk that is why it is okay to stay deaf. And besides there are lots of way to show or express our feelings or what we would like to say by means of sign language or in writing. There still a communication way. Have a nice day!

Being deaf would be easier I believe because you can always read peoples lips. If you are blind you can't see the beautiful colors of the world from the blue sky, the yellow sun or the green grass and trees. The one thing I would miss so much is not being able to hear music. However if you are born either way it really wouldn't matter because you can't miss what you don't know.

Both are difficult situation I guess but if I really have to choose, I'd rather be deaf than blind. For me is tougher to be blind cause when you can't see it seems that the world stopped already but if you are deaf you can still act as a normal person without other people noticing your handicap.

hey werdan.. good question.. i think i would like all my senses but between sight and sound? well i think blind people can clearly picture out what is happening in their surroundings since they can hear clearly what is happening.. as to deaf people, they can just see everything but actually they cant really relate since they cannot hear the different sounds.. so thats why i would rather choose sound over sight.. :) have a nice day

I'm not sure. This is a difficult choice and a great discussion. I would probably want to keep my hearing. My friends and family's voices are great to hear, and they could discribe things to me. Losing either one would be extremely difficult though.
