My dad always told me that I have a great memory. He proved it when I was a child, as he watch movies, late nights I was awaken by a noise of the television, he's watching movies using betamax players at that time. He was surprised when he heard little steps because our floors then are made from wood. He saw me and said "why are you still awake?", that's according to his story, I was nearing 2 years of age then and we watched the movie together. Years have passed, we never talked about it, that's the movie that made me scared of dogs. I was in grade 4 when my dad and I are eating lunch, I asked him that I remember us watching a movie when I was little and told him that the title is "Cujo". Now I'm a dog lover, my dog just died and up to now it still hurts. Her name is Tamburie. My dad was surprised like it gave shivers down to his spine for such an early age, I still remembered the movie. Another one, I was 10 months old then, here in our country, we have a custom when a dead person is going to be buried, at the burial site, children must be carried above the casket. It works like this, on the 2 sides of the casket there are two men facing each other, the casket is in the middle, the first person will carry the child then passed on to the next person then back to the first one, a custom that up to now I still don't understand. They said that it was a superstition so that the spirit of the dead won't visit the children or maybe to stop death if there is going to be the next one to die in the family. Years after my grand father's death, I told mom about a man who looks like sleeping inside a rectangle protected by glass. My mom then told me to describe the person I told her that he has completely white hair no facial hairs. My mom showed me my grand pa's picture holding me when I was a baby, I said he looks like my grand pa. She told me that she was shocked that I was able to describe it to her in details. What about you friends? what's your earliest memory? share your story :) God Bless GELO

My mother has always had a very high need to control. When I was a child, I wasn't allowed to get dirty. If I got dirty, I got beaten, so I learned very early on to stay neat and clean. My earliest memory is of being fascinated by a patch of dirt that was beneath the stairs outside our apartment door. I remember wearing a green dress with a white pinafore and white socks and white shoes. I remember wanting to touch the dirt; wondering what it would feel like, cold in the shade. I wondered why there were no plants growing there, probably because my mother has an incredible green thumb, and we've always had LOTS of plants in the house. If there was a pot with dirt in it, it didn't stay just dirt for very long -- it became a thriving plant very quickly. I think the dirt outside my door under the stairs fascinated me because I knew I'd get beaten just for touching it. I was about 2, 2 1/2 when we lived at that apartment. My next strongest memory is of when I taught myself to read when I was 3. I did it because I was bored.

Hi. I think the earliest memory I could remember was when I was still living with my aunt and grandmother. I remembered accompanying them while working in the farm. I lived with them until I was six years old. My parents took me from them when I was about to start schooling.

Hi Sol, Thanks for checking out my posts. I'll be checking yours too. That's a nice memory you shared with us. I never experienced living far from my parents but I have a lot of friends that are raised (laki) by their (sa) grand mother (lola) and aunt (tita). I love my aunt, she's always there for me even though we are both busy, I make sure that I visit her on Christmas and New Year. She's like a mom to me specially when mom left us and gone off to heaven. God rest her soul.... I love you Ma! :) -GELo

As far as I'm concerned, My first memory is my grandfather who love me so much, give me some sweets to me. I still can remember it clearly. But I am so sorry he passed away so quickly when I grow up. Now I missed him so much. He can be my earliest memory in my life. Happy mylot.
