Did anybody go on crazy shopping on Black Friday?

Yesterday is the 27 of November, the day after Thanksgiving, and I think many people would go on to the nearby retail stores, such as Walmart, Bestbuy for the one day of the year "crazy shopping". People even camp out of the store parking lot waiting for its opening hours. I couldn't do it myself honestly, even though I love to shop cheap electronics. I rather stay home and have plenty of my rest time. My logic is why would I spend my time while I have to wait in long line, and squeeze in with 1000 people in the stores. I think my time is precious.

I had never heard of Black Friday before. Can you explain more about what does it consist of? So far I only know that people go shopping, like in the 1st day of sales. Is there some kind of sales that day? Thanks

Black Friday is so named because throughout the year, retailers typically lose money. On Black Friday, which is always the Friday after Thanksgiving, the profit and loss figures moved out of the red and into the black. Stores vie for customers and have great bargains during certain early morning hours. This year some stores opened as early as midnight to accomodate the shoppers.

I feel it the same way. I dn't like shopping when it's holidays or festivals because it's too crowded. I have to squeeze in with so countless people. It's horrible!!!

I never go shopping on Black Friday. I know there are tons of sales that day, but the truth is that most stores only offer a few of each of the items on sale, so the odds of actually getting those items at that price, admid a bunch of other shoppers, are remote. I actually plan on doing my shopping online this year, as that way I can beat hte crowds and take my time.

i am in canada and about an hour north of the US border @ ny state and i know there were tons of people that have gone down for black friday but i also saw on a few websites that the prices are really no different here in Canada than they are in the US! also, a lot of stores here are trying to mimic black friday sales this weekend so i will just stay here.

hello there! well in my country it is already a sunday midnight. yesterday was the second day of the bazaar being held inside the village i live in. big bazaar once ayear and i enjoyed buying some stuff for myself. there may be tons of people buying but i find it enjoying since the sales ladies have too many people to bother asking what they interest in buying a nd i can just freely choose whatever things i want without them staring at me as i choose on the products.

I've only ever heard of this and seen it on tv. I'm guessing you're from the USA since you mention Walmart. In my country there aren't many massive sales like this that I know of spare when a shop is having a closing down sale. If there was something like this in my country I, like yourself would not camp out just to get a bargain. It's kind of ridiculous to be to camp out in the cold and risk someone attacking you in the middle of the night or even get robbed while you sleep and then fight with other customers to get the last gadget on the shelf. Plain silly in my opinion; plus there are people who get serious injuries when the shop opens and people rush in. Some people fall over and get trampled over like getting run over by a stampede. I saw this on the news a few years ago. Not worth it I reckon.

Yes, I must admit that I did go out shopping on Black Friday. I don't usually shop on this day but there were a couple of things that I wanted to pick up so I decided to take my husband with me. He was amazed. I got to Best Buy five minutes before opening time and had no problem getting a parking spot. I had to wait to get in but I bought a razor and a 32" Samsung LCD. I was in and out of the store in 15 minutes. My next stop was at Lowes to pick up some laminate flooring and a vacuum and it really wasn't bad there either. On the way to Lowes, I passed Wal-Mart and the parking lot was jammed to capacity at 5:30 in the morning. The store is in Upland, Ca. Wal-Mart actually opened on Thursday with Black Friday bargains but this is one of the stores that they had to close because the customers were acting up. The behavior is really getting ridiculous. I heard that at some Best Buy stores, they were giving customers tickets for items that were hot bargains and that were in short supply. With that if you came for a tv and the store ran out you wouldn't waste your time waiting. Not sure if that's the solution but something has got to happen to change this behavior.

No I did not! I'm not one of those crazy people who does that! I only went out to do my laundry and stop at the recycling to recycle aluminum cans! I was tired for Thanksgiving and I rested the rest of the day when I wasn't on the internet! A better way to spend Black Friday they shop!

i have never really gone on crazy shopping sprees during sales. it seems to me that there is far too many people to contend with to bother getting out of bed. though i must say that i may one day regret missing the chance to be a part of the sarm.
