I know sometimes we all get bored at work... either things are slow or it's just feeling a bit blah today. Usually we have to go find something to do like straighten a shelf, dust or something to look busy. It's always good to look busy even when your normal duties are done or you are waiting upon someone. Day dreaming is an option once in a while but I always hate being caught off guard because I wasn't focused on my job but in my own non-work thoughts.

I am jealous. I work in a really fast paced environment that there is no time to get bored. You are doing at least five things at once, and once you complete those five, another ten things get placed on your desk.

As a cashier, I enjoyed "looking busy", or putting things back on shelves, straightening them. I found I called be in my own little world, whether I was bored or not. Sometimes this would cause me to not notice customers at first, but I never really got into trouble over it.

I work as a cashier too.At my workplace, I straighten things out, water the plants, put stock back, wipe the counter, restock drinks and candy and sweep the store. Its a small store, so sometimes when the goings slow they make me sweep the veranda outside the store...

I am no longer a cashier, but did recently get a job. I've been out of work for two years because I quit and relaxed / couldn't find a job / didn't look hard enough. Now I'm being more serious and have one... Today was my first day, but when bored I figure I'll read or clean more. My job is flexible in that I work for a family member, and all I need do is make sure she's alright, etc.

There is always something that needs doing in my workplace so being bored through inactivity is not an issue. There is sometimes a bit of a lull during the shift changeover period but that's when we do stuff that will make life easier once it gets busy again.

When I would get bored at job I must admit that I browse the internet or begin chatting with my workmates. I also use msn services. I dislike not doing anything, so I look for any source of entertainment, can't be helped.

When bored, I go out of the office with my friends from work, walk around and talk. It's hard to deal with boredom, boredom can make you unproductive. The solution is to cut the boredom by doing an activity you enjoy. In my case, I enjoy going out and strolling with my friends within the time frame that we're allowed to go out of the office. After the walk, it's fun to start working again since the boredom has been ironed out.

When I get bored at work, I sometimes go to other officemate's cubicle and spark a conversation for a few minutes to break the feeling of being bored or just to breathe some fresh air. Or I do some other work that is still pending. Sometimes I read and catch up on emails or check-up on my kids at home and see how they are doing.
