What would movies be without great sounding scores. Many directors have a close relationship with their composers. The musical score is one of the most important things about a film, it sets the mood from the very opening scene until the end when the credits roll and the people start getting up from their seats. So who is your favorite film composer?

I personally like John Williams as a composer for movies. All the sound tracks he's done have been great and he's won many awards for them. Of course there are other composers who are good too but he's the one I like best.

Hello rosgill, thanks for responding. Yeah I would have to agree with you John Williams has composed some very memorable theme songs that will live on forever.

Absolutely, hands down, without a doubt, Danny Elfman. I am a huge Tim Burton fan and a big part of his movies is the music and Danny Elfman does the music on almost every Burton movie. And even in the non-Burton movies that Elfman has worked on, his style is so unique that it's so easy to identify that he did the music.

I have to agree with you 100%. Danny Elfman is a great composer and has his own signature sound. He works great with Tim Burton because most of Burton's films have that gothic feel to them. Great choice crimsonladybug!

Right now, my favorite composer is Hans Zimmer. His scores bring out some emotions in his films, especially The Last Samurai. I also like Klaus Badelt. I like scores that really get you involved in the film. I can't stand bland scores in an otherwise good film.
