It's final: President Arroyo for Congress in 2010 election

Philippines
November 30, 2009 3:02am CST
While there was a buzz about PGMA's desire to run again, she announced this morning that she will run for Congress in 2010 election. According to the radio report interview, she was urged by her constituents in the second district of Pampanga to remain in public service. With the current and past issues being thrown to her, her representative will file her COC this coming Tuesday. Do you think she will win? If ever, do you think she will not use her power to manipulate the government if Gibo will be the next president? No hurting words, please. By the way, here is the link to the complete report of the said issue - http://angelcuala.blogspot.com/2009/11/president-gloria-macapagal-arroyo-will.html

I heard about it but she should be resign now. since she plan to run for congress for interrupting the good flow of the politics in the country... This is a kind of survival for her. Because she is after about the immunity when she is congress. I'm sure that she is facing more charges when she is remove from office. She is doing more suffering to the country. This is also a shameful for the office the President because she did not protect the dignity of became a president...

I agree with you, friend. Pres. Arroyo, want to survive for her lost dignity and also the impunity privilege given to all the members of congress to avoid from any case file against her. Because I know she faces many charges when she unset from office of the President... Now, she is filing her candidacy.

she never felt resign in the first place, maybe she should create her own kingdom, there's no doubt she will never leave the political stance. this is really awful since she's been into two terms already. maybe we should have never kick out erap instead allowed the snap elections to pursue, i felt like a fool when we cheered up to EDSA II. i believe she already lost her dignity as the President and now she's just trying to survive

What!?! Tsk tsk. I don't really know what to say. I don't believe it was just a simple "urging" from her constituents. I believe she has other motives. I believe that her candidacy for the congress was planned and finalized a long time ago. I just hope that she will not win. How about you, what can you say about this matter? You forgot to share your opinion.

Well, I think it's legal for her to run again especially for the lower position. However, I think it's immoral for someone to demote yourself and trying to convince others that you like to serve your hometown. Considering that Congress is a legislative department. It would be quite believable if she is running for Governor as it is more focus on Pampanga alone.

Good point. I agree with you. She may not be required but I do hope that she resigns from Office since she has already filed a certificate of candidacy.

If she will cheat she will win. large percent numbers of Filipinos believe that this is all planned. She will run on congress to avoid being charge by all that she has done in our country and she is planning to be a prime minister. Of course they will push it. Do you think there are still people who believe on her?

It came as no surprise at all. I guess people were more or less expecting it. And it doesnt surprise me anymore to what length GMA will go just to keep a safehold on power that politics bring. "Urged by her constituents" yeah right ! More like urged by her need to save herself from any prosecution once she steps off as president. Or more like another step toward more power-grabbing scheme. It was even mentioned in the news that if GMA wins, they would be setting a record of having 5 Arroyos in the Congress alone. I just hope that more Filipinos get wise.

ughhh! Oh I mean...really??! Haven't seen the news about it yet. Okay, if that was true, uhmmmm... I'm speechless...hahaha! isn't that weird at all? For me, there are other ways to serve our nation other than running for congress since, she has been in the highest position in our country already. And the fact that she's talking about her plans and all....is a little crazy! Why isn't she focus more on what had happened in Maguindanao? I am not against her or something, it is just.. "oh so freakin' weird!?".

a traditional politician like all... she wanted to become a congresswoman because they will be changing our form of government from a democratic one to a parliamentary type. if during next year election majority of her partymate will win then they will start the charter change and will install her as prime minister.... God help the Philippines if ever this will happen....

Running in her own district would definitely giver her a bigger chance since the current congressman there is her son and is backing out of politics already for her to run there. Virtually she has no competitor there. I heard that Rando David has backed out already so there is really no viable competitor in her district so I think she sure is a winner in this election again. The constitution has not specifically stated that an outgoing president cannot ran anymore for a lower position. It is a first time that an outgoing president will be running for a lower position in the government. I just hope that the real reason behind her running is really to serve her constituents than acquiring legal immunity from the cases that is to be filed against her when she becomes a private citizen.

The presidency is the highest position that a man/woman will crave for. PGMA have reached that. As a president, you should have the best mind in the land, you possessed the strongest word being the chief of everyone, you are the head of a state. Now , she is going to run for congress because she was urged by her constituent, does she had a brain, i thought she has the best mind in the land , she only listen to her constituent. What a delikadeza. In my understanding, a leader shall lead by example, maybe in the next generation, all the coming president will be going to be a congresista after their term. Public service! graft and corruption, hello Garci maybe that is public service is that correct tonggressman, lol

Hello! Yes, I also read the news just this afternoon about PGMA's plan next year.Honestly,it would be better for her to remain a private citizen after her term as President just like past presidents. She can still help the country by being a private citizens through her own effort. Look on what the late former President Cory Aquino did after her term. She was still active in spreading the message of democracy and peace and very effective in her effort. President Ramos too continue helping the country in his own right, so why PGMA still dreamed to stay in Politics?

she did it.. she really did it.. oh well.. what can i say? what a shameful act. i cant say anything else because i just read "no hurting words" and i might say things that would lead there. hahaha. one more thing though, people in pampanga should try to see other aspirants not just the arroyos.. i mean, be more open in having a fresh face or anybody but not the arroyos. this is what i have to say to the people in pampanga.. you need all the luck in the world.

Yes she is running for Congress she submitted her certificate of candidacy just this morning. I don't really know if Pampangenos really urged her to run I'm sure she don't want to lose her power. I agree she has hidden agenda for running again and she is greedy for power.

Well, we can't do anything about that. Every person is entitled to his own freedom to decide. If we are to prevent someone from running, then we must stop Erap too. But we know we can't do this. The only thing we can do is to vote wisely. If we don't like a person for a certain position, then it's our own discretion to vote or not for this person.

hello there blogger, It seems that she fell prey once again to her constituents, or probably she was trying to make it as if they are convincing her. I am pretty sure that she doesn't want to retire from the Government at all because she either got blinded with Power in the Government seat or simply just wanted to avoid lots and lots of lawsuits from the charges she was being accused of. as for this Gibo character, i really hope he doesn't win since there's always more than meets the eye in this person. i would rather choose either Manny Villar, Noynoy Aquino or Richard Gordon, but never from the Administration bet.
