Hi! Guys! I am here again asking questions and starting a discussion, that i think we all have in common. If your computer crashed, are you the one that is repairing it? Or you call for a computer technician to repair it for you. If you will ask me, my answer is yes! I am the one repairing my computer, i know that, my course is not related to computer but, in years of using a computer, i already learned how to deal with different problems of it. I learned how to deal with viruses, i learned how to deal with hardware issues, software problems, networking and i also know how to reformat. I also assemble computers, i do not know why i can do those stuffs, maybe because of the years of experience having computer, or maybe it is because i study a lot about computers online and i even buy books for it. Having the capability of repairing and creating a computer, makes me feel good and even made me not spend money for repairs. Imagine the money that we can save, if we know how to repair our own computers. I also even know what are the good brands of computers and what are the good to buy parts of the computers. How about you?

I repair my pc by myself. It is mainly for shortening time and unnecessary billing. If i send it to repair centers, they take longer time and generally my daughter becomes restless for this. Most important part is that there is nothing much critical in it. Thank you.

I agree with you, it will really take time if we will bring it to repair centers. Sometimes, people who are repairing pc makes it more worst so that, you will pay higher. I already experienced things like that, and i am not happy with it, that is why i told myself, i will study repairing my computers so that i will not be played by those people again. Anyway, not all of them are like that, there are still people who do their job honestly. Have a nice day.

I am sure you will become a good computer tech in the future. Do not think of, you wasted your time on that field, at least you gain knowledge on it. Hi RJ, My knowledge in fixing computer is very limited--I don't know how to work on complicated things in the computer. My husband used to do the trouble-shooting. Now if there problem is beyond his capacity to fix-- we call a computer service man.

At least you know the basic. It is really good cause if the problem is not that big, you can repair the computer by yourself and you will not spend even a penny for repairs. And if the problems are really big, at least you know already what are the first measure and then call for a professional help. That is good that you and your husband know how to fix a computer. I admire you for that, her in our house, i am the only one who knows how to fix computer problems.

Personally, I want to learn how to fix minor computer problems. Hmm, maybe in due time. Regarding our business, I think it's progressing as planned. We have just received the birth certificate from SEC. Haha, after almost a month of waiting they have finally issued the registration certificate. We are now completing the registration requirements with other governmental bodies. Many thanks for wishing us success.

Hi rjvb26, So glad you know about fixing Computers as we have another one and it is totally round the bend. We are going to fix it but not with the same one as the last. Where I lived before a very intelligent Girl would come to fix up our mess on the Computer and it was from her I learned so much. She is just so easy to learn from. Anyhow I´m glad you have the knowhow that´s what it takes to like Computers having a passion for them so to speak.

O wow that girl is really intelligent. It is good that you have her on your side, because of her, you gained new knowledge that can help you through the rest of tour life. Computers are much of a necessity at present. People are now every dependent on computers. We can also do so many things on our computer and i think computer rocks and so we need to take care of them and repair them when needed.

Hiya rjvb, Yes she´s called Miriam and she should be giving Classes about what she knows. I´ve learned a lot since then bits and pieces and even my Sons ask me for help lol. Would you believe it? But again I only know a bit here a bit there all through trial and error mainly. I once went to a page to get rid of the wanminiport that kept bothering me all the time and there was no way I could get rid of it I followed a lot of instructions and nothing the thing was still there until I messed around with something to do with the Router and it went poof vanished I can tell you it made my life misery that wanminiport but I made it vanish for good.

O that is good, you repaired a problem on networking, that means you know may things about computers. Networking is a complicated thing in computers for people who doesn't know much about it. It is much harder than fixing a simple software trouble or having a virus on the computer. Sometimes ti will make the problems much worse if it will be experimented by people who doesn't even know how to install a simple software. I admire you for that. Cheers!

Yes, I'm graduated in technical school taking the electronic technician but most of the repair I have done is computer. I am lazy to repair tv set because of the obsolete electronic parts and no electronic component being find to replace defective capacitor, diode,ic,transistors and others...

I wish I had your computer skills. I know quite a bit. I can usually get rid of viruses and trojans. I can set up outlook express with multiple addresses and configure emails to go to different folders. I can partially set up a computer. I cant reformat though, I have always been too nervous to try that, thinking I will mess things up. Computer technicians cost quite a lot, so I avoid them if I can and try to learn to do things myself.

Hi jenny, do not be afraid of trying new things cause it will make you gain new knowledge on things that you did not even imagine you can have. It is ok, and i think trying your best is a good start. Be courageous enough to start new things so you will succeed. next- Hi! my friend! What school are you working right now? Lol your lucky to have those people around you, i am sure they do not charge you for that, anyway what is your job?

Hello Rjvb. When I brought my first computer I didn't even know how to turn it on. I had to call gateway to find out how to turn it on....LOL. But that was many years ago. I found out then that it would be best if I learned all I could so I could fix it myself. I have replaced the mother board, hard drives, CPU fans and much more since then. I don't trust anyone to work on my computer. Now if I can't figure out what the problem is I will call a computer expert I know and ask him questions. Usually he can tell me what to do to fix the computer myself.

That is a nice story, of how you learn things on your own, experience really can teach us many things. You are good knowing you already know how to fix all of those. You are right about that, not to trust anyone other people to repair your computer cause just like what i always said, they are taking advantage of the situation. I already encountered lots of people like that, that is why i study and learn to fix things on my own. It not only lessen expenses on repairs but it also gives me knowledge.

My ex wanted someone to work on my computer once and I asked this person something that I knew how to do already and he said it couldn't be done. That was the last straw for me. I don't like anyone touching my computer I know how to do what needs to be done and if I don't I do have the internet to teach me.

Hi rj! You are right! We can save money if we repair computer by ourselves. Unfortunately, I can't do that though I am trying. I think I just don't have the passion to learn it anyway. lol My sister learned to repair her laptop. Before, she is just calling her husband how to do it. Her pc is always having issue so this means she is calling her husband most of the time. Haha. She probably is getting used to the hardware and pieces and everything about it. So she had the capability to repair it now on her own. She is not living with me anymore. She lives abroad. So if something happened to my computer, I would go to a cafe shop nearby and have it repair instead of calling her

O i see, your sister must be really good on repairing computers, as you can see laptops are a little bit much complicated than desktop pc. Anyway, just like you said you do not have a passion for it, so i think it is really better to ask other people to repair it for you. But be sure to look for people that can be trusted, not the people who will take advantage of the situation.

You're right! You never knew what they can get out of my laptop! Its a good thing that I have be-friend with the one who's fixing my laptop if something happened to it. He was good, if it is a "fast-fix" he didn't bother to let me pay. That's sometimes funny. Cause if I only can do that, I can have it done myself

Why don't you ask your friends to teach you how to handle small computer problems. So that, you can repair them yourself or let's just say, you know the first aid. It is really good if you will know things like that, cause not always our friends are on our side. Anyway computer repairs are easy, just learn to read from the internet and it will all go well.

O i see, well then your computers know how to follow their masters. Anyway, it is hard to repair laptops and even mess with those, that is why i think, it is really better if you will ask other people to repair that kind of computer, but if you have the guts to open a laptop, then it is good. I can repair laptops, but most of the repairs that i do is about programs and software only, i also repair hardware but with a manual on my side.

How I wish I could repair my computer so I won't be spending much for repair costs. The cost of computer is so high that sometimes we think of buying a new computer instead just to avoid the repair costs. It is an an advantage on some who knows how to repair computers because they don't have to go to the repair shop and pay.

You are right about that; sometimes, the price of the repair is almost the same when buying new ones specially if the problems will be hardware. You are right that it is best if a computer owner knows how to repair his own pc, cause it will save the owner a lot of money and time. You can also do it, and i believe you can, just study more about computers so that you can save money too.

I then bought a book on how to build and repairs computers and I have taken mine to pieces a few times and upgraded it myself. It can save quite a lot of money.. - Derek
