ok this is some local news thats a bit old but a friend just sent me the link and i thought it was interesting and slightly offending on the part of peta. http://www.doggienews.com/2008/01/virginia-classify-peta-slaughterhouse.htm so i'm interested in your thoughts on things like this that peta does and causes. i think they offend they are rude and insane and appear to be fairly stupid and not really interested in saving anything except in their bank accounts maybe. i cant stand these people i love animals and they really don't seem to they have a problem with animals killed for fur but they kill animals for no other reason than that they don't feel like letting someone take care of them in a good home and publicity. they complain about the prez killing a fly but can any of them honestly say they have never in their entire life killed any kind of insect or otherwise smaller invertebrate creature i guarantee that they cannot. sorry ill quit and let you guys put up some rants of your own here peta just makes me so angry that i want to have them disbanded and put in small sealed concrete bunkers to starve to death.

is this true? - i am going to do a search but it does seem unlikely that an animal welfare organisation is putting down most of the animals that are rescued. the ones here don't. i know there is strong feeling about peta in the states and i have my suspicions about the validity of this link but will get back to you once i have checked.

hmmm. all the searches i did brought up lots of pages of complete nonsense - some from animal rights extremists, some from anti animal rights extremists, and lots about hoaxes. i am guessing this is at least a gross exaggeration but perhaps somebody from the states, or who has worked for or with peta, would be able to set this straight. animal rights is one of those issues that seems to attract nutcases in huge numbers but i didn't think peta was a lunatic fringe organisation.

the things i seem to see of peta are all fairly loony and not really effective manners of securing animal rights actually they tend to just do some unpleasntly rude or violent things for publicity. hey i could always be wrong though.

not my country, i've seen a few silly campaigns from peta discussed on line but having looked a bit myself i'd guess pretty mainstream, if provocative. what is your main animal welfare group though - the humane society? anyway here most animal welfare groups are fairly respectable, we have some lunatic fringe ones too of course (america does not have the monopoly on nutcases), which drive me up the wall.
