Well today is the national day of Romania so almost everybody is free and doesn't work (with the exception of ambulance, police, fire department and a few others). The other day i got a notification for my amazon package and it said that i have to go today to pick it up but when i got there, surprise surprise, the Post Office is CLOSED today, December 1st. So, have you ever been called somewhere and it was closed ? Did you ever go all the way up to a shop, or other place just to find out it was not open ?

LOL. I know just how you feel, though it my case, I think it's just old age slowing down the mental agility to remember that just because our stores are open 24/7 and on holidays, doesn't mean the government employees are working too! ROFL

Happy Romania Day by the way. Is this day a celebration of your country's independance, or something else?

Call me Sparks, all my friends do........ And thanks for the explanation. Congrats on your freedom. As for the notification, gov't is a bureaucracy and heaven knows they can never keep anything straight! LOL

Hi there Spark of Insanity. On 1st December 1989 the communism was ended with the president being caught and executed through a revolution and we became "free" so you can call it an independence day. PS: the thing is on the notifications it said i had to get it TODAY (even if they had no working schedule)

I had an appointment to have my hair cut once and, when I got there, the place was closed. There was a note on the door saying "It's such a nice day today that I thought I'd go fishing." Boy! Was I mad!!! This place was about 20 miles from my home and I didn't have money to waste on gas. I wrote the guy a note back that expressed my sentiment about his going fishing and not notifying me before I left the house. I let him know that I wouldn't be back. I also received a notice to appear in court for a child support issue I had with my ex. The notice told me to appear on a specific date but that date was on a Sunday! I called the courthouse and told them that I was sure I'd be the only one there if I appeared on the date they had written. They corrected it. I'm glad I realized the error before I ventured out! Other than that, if there's a chance that something will be closed when I plan to go to it, I'll call or look it up before going, just to be sure.

"It's such a nice day today that I thought I'd go fishing." This was the most funny post that i read in a long time. While I know this was quite sad and annoying for you, if you think about it you realize it was actually quite funny . Thanks for the answer and enjoy the best response... :D

Thanks for the BR and I'm happy that I could give you a good laugh. I'll admit that I'd probably have gone fishing myself if I had thought about it but I would have made sure that anyone who was counting on me being there was notified first. This guy was a very old friend of mine so I guess he thought I'd understand. Hmmph! Good friend, terrible businessman!

Hello elitess. I don't have such an experience and I feel sorry that you did not get it because it was closed. I guess that you got it later on and are still enjoying the stuff you got. Good day, friend.

HI THERE, yes, i have gone to places & found them closed. i'll have to admit it was very aggravating. Alot of the time if i had just stooped & thought about it i would have realized they were closed for a holiday or whatever so that's evn worse to be aggravated w/yourself, lol.

Hi, elitess. Yes, this has happened to me quite a bit. But I have gotten into the habit of calling places before I decide to go there. I do this so much when I am home. I will call a store just to ask them their business hours. I don't want to waste my time and gas going over there only to find that they are not open. I am sorry that you missed the Post Office this morning. Maybe you can catch up with them tomorrow.

Happy National Day to you!^_^ I think that has happened to me many times that I couldnt even remember just how many or on what specific occasion that it has happened. Whenever that happens, I think it would be those times when: - I dont have any contact with the office that I cant confirm whether they're open or not. - I just remembered that I need to pick up something so I go there on a whim hoping that it was open. - I have some business to attend to at a government office but only just remembered that its a weekend when Im already at the gate. - I wish to go to some place and forgot that they only open at ___ or are already closed at __. - I forgot that today is an official holiday and most of the offices are closed. That's about all the scenarios I could think of that that could possibly happen. Happy Holidays!^_^

There's a couple of times when I went to a store thinking they open at 8am but they don't open till 9am. They usually announce on the News what businesses are closed on the Holidays so you don't make an unnecessary trip.

Yes i personally had bitter experience. One day i got up early in the morning and dressed myself with good casuals. I went to college to attend the classes and to chit chat with friends but when i entered into the premises i did not see any one and the caretaker reminded me that it was sunday.
