well u can look up on wikipedia the breeds u're interested in, i say a good big family dog would be siberian husky or labs or golden retriever for small dogs i would suggest yorkies, or maltese, or i have a shih tzu, they say they don't have tolerance for mean kids, but mine's good, he loves to play with my kids and he's cute.

I like bulldogs. English bulldogs. They are so cute. I saw one on this show Rob & Big on MTV and it was so adorable. He was might and his name was meaty. and apparently they can skateboard too. I also like Beagles. My grandma had 2 of them. They love people and love to run so make sure they have alot of yard space. They are very protective of their owners too. They tend to like males better then females (humans). I don't know why but both of the beagles took to my uncle.

I had an american bulldog who recently passed away, this week in fact and he was one of the best dogs i've ever had. They have great personalities. I also just got an english bulldog puppy and they are also great dogs and great with children. They are very loving, and the personalities are so unique. Plus if you're like me, i'm all about big dogs. I consider an english bulldog a small dog compared to most I've own...actually the smallest i've owned, so they can fit into either size category depending on you and how you see things.

I have a Brazilian Mastiff and she is one of the most loyal dogs I have ever owned. Awesome disposition and just a massive animal. She's an excellent protector and guardian of the family and property!

As of the writing of that last comment. She actually had two puppies. She is such a massive dog we actually had no inclination she was even pregnant. The father is a fawn doberman pincher but the pups look exactly like mom. What made the births even more unusual is that she had the puppies almost fourteen hours apart.

if you r looking for a pure breed do a bit of reading up about the characteristics of the particular breed ur looking at and see whether it's characteristics suit ur setup -some dogs are one-man dogs, some dogs like children some don't so depending on ur home you would need to decide. personally i find the Mongrels (mixed breed) make the most intelligent ,loyal and loving pets.

I have found the best dogs are dogs that are adopted from the shelter.
