Cat Stories anyone?

I know you would not believe it, but this really happened. Our black feline named Tabitha gave birth to a baby kitten. I know that mother cats with newborn kittens are usually protective of their young ones. One time, I saw Tabitha pass by, and I coaxed her in the vernacular Filipino saying, "Hey Tabitha, I know that you just gave birth, but just for once would you allow me to take a sneak peek at your baby? I won't do anything to her I swear, I just want to take a look at her." And you know what she did next? She went to the basket, carried the kitty by the back of her neck, and left the helpless kitty in front of me. I was astounded and surprised. Is there any chance that she really understood me? Up to this day, what she did still puzzled me. That has been the most vivid cat memory I have ever had.

Cat had to have her kittens with my mother. My former roomie had a friend who's cat wouldn't have her kittens until she was there. Briar Rose was such a bad mother that Zu had to box her ears to get her to take care of her kittens. Cappie had to be put with Solo so he could feed because she wasn't a very good mother. Rygel has helped us raise kittens, now Booboo has helped out too - they are fixed males. Oliver, at 10 days old, crawled out of his nest next to my bed and into bed with me because he wanted to be with his "mom." Cats are strange and wondrous animals...

Thanks for sharing this. It is true that some mothers need to be helped out in raising their kittens. Some of the cats aren't good with the "taking-care-of-their-kitties" aspect of their feline lives. I like the part about little Oliver crawling beside "mom". That is so sweet...

I had a favorite cat, SAKI. She kept me company whenever I was alone in the house, when everyone was out to work. She was the smartest of all the cats we had. When it was time for them to eat, she knew how to position herself at the opening of the door such that she was the very first one who could enter the house while the others waited for the door to be opened wider. When she got wounded by some bad person who could have tried to strangle her, she would allow me to apply betadine on her wounded neck. She would lift up her face so that I could easily apply the cotton with betadine. When she had her kittens, she also adopted a wayward kitten a little older than her own. She let the wayward kitten suck her milk together with her own kittens. I realized how good mother cats could be. Whenever she gave birth, she would allow us to peek at her in her box. We could hold her while she gave birth. She trusted us so much that we could hold her newly born kittens. She knew her name. When she heard anyone calling her name 'SAKI' she would come running to you. She got her name because when she was still small, she was bow legged (or 'sakang' in Filipino) that is why we called her SAKI. But she grew up a beautiful cat. She knew how to massage by her paws without exposing her nails so that we would not be scratched. She massaged our tummies when we had some stomach ache. But when she began having many kittens, some people in our compound put her kittens in sacks and I just learned that they threw them down the river. Then, SAKI got lost, too. About noontime of Sept. 19, 2007, she went out of the house as she normally did to find some soiled ground to urinate or move but she never returned. I looked for her to no avail. I cried so much because they were beautiful cats and very close to us. It was only this year when I learned from some children that SAKI was killed by somebody by hitting her head. She was pregnant then. Some people did not like feline cats because they multiply fast. I never forget SAKI. I just console myself that now, nobody could hurt her again.

Thanks for sharing your touching, memorable story about Saki. I cried when I you said that they drowned the kitties in the river and took her life as well. It's just so sad that not everyone appreciates cats the way we do. It is so sad because you have become so attached to her. It such a loss. You will never find another cat like Saki.

Well, that is a normal things which a cat likely do not like to be disturb. And my mom tell me not to hold the kitten as the mother do not like a human scent. Sometimes they gonna eat their young if not properly monitor. Thus, cats are very sensitive they do not like other person to hold their kittens and would find another place where she could lay her kittens.

You are right when you said that thing about your mother telling you not to hold the kitten because the kitten does not like the human scent. That is when I talked to her, I insisted that I was not going to do anything, I was just going to look at her.

that must have been a very interesting and exciting moment for you personally i have no experienced something like that. My own cat is living at my parents now, since i couldnt bring it with me when i moved out. This cat has had it ways around life, and it is pretty amazing it is still alive, so i certainly believe in the fact that a cat got 9 lifes.

I've come to the conclusion that cats are made of awesome. That's a sweet storry about the kitten. I have 3 cats and one of them will watch where I put his treats. When I am out of the room or apt he will open the cuboard and get them down. He's pretty smart and cheeky. Cheers!

WEll I have so many cat stories I could share with you but I will only pick one. My cat of three is name is Gucci. He is part Siamese I beileve and he is so smart. He follows us to the bathroom and just the other night he got out my back door. So I yelled for him and you know what that cat came right back! This is no joke I know people think cats suck but really they can be very smart and also self suffient as well. This is a neat story and I think that cats can understand more things than we will know for a long time until science finally discovers what you and I already know. Take care and happy mylotting to you.

That is why I wanted cats, they are so adorable. But don't get me wrong, I love my dogs. In the Philippines, there are lots of stray cats, and one of them is who we call Patrick. He will not let us touch him, but he will let us give him lunch and dinner. He is a sort of adopted pet hehe. At morning, we often see him on top of the washing machine, sleeping hehe. But when I try to touch him, he won't let me. He only comes to our garage either to sleep or eat haha.

Don't worry, I also love dogs too, except for a certain dog inside our compound who barks at me. That dog bit me bacause he thought I was going to attack his owner, when in fact I was just greeting and kissing her good morning. And worse, their Austrian relative fed him raw meat which changed the dog's personality. He's just one step away to becoming a K9 dog, waiting for his owner to say "sic".
