Now that the dreaded off-season for TV viewing has arrived what are you planning to do with the added free time(if you watch network TV)? Since I'm not very fond of watching reruns and holiday specials that much I plan to catch up on more reading. I have several books lined up and waiting to be read. Right now I am reading a Victorian-era historical romance. It has been a long time since I've read one of those. The next in line will be the latest from either Stephen King or Dean Koontz. If you plan to do some reading what will you be reading?

I suppose that I'm a self-acknowledged "Scrooge" this year, gabs, but don't mind me. Have a wonderful holiday season!

I love victorian-era historical romances. I just started reading again. I read alot of romances and true crime. Off season tv doesn't last as long as it used to. I have Cable so there is always something on NatGeo, Travel, Bravo, Reelz, TCM, AMC, Tnt, Family, Lifetime, A&E, FX, PBS, BIO, History, International History and Comedy Central. On one of those there is usually something on.

I spent an enjoyable few hours yesterday, celticeagle, watching PBS's broadcast of Hollywood's heyday of musicals! I wish you a very happy holiday season!

I read both Stephen King and Dean Koontz myself and also Ken Follett, Iris Johansen and also James Patterson. I have a lot more books then I need but that is alright like when rerun's are on TV I have plenty of books to read.I am reading a James Patterson book right now. I mostly read at night but when there isn't much to watch on TV or when I am bored on my computer then I read or just when I feel like reading.

Hey worldwise! I am so with you on this one! I also don't like to watch re-runs and really don't like this time of year for tv watching at all! I'm not a big fan of the holiday shows either! I also have some wonderful books ready to read and am looking forward to the "quiet" time too! Unfortunately, my boyfriend isn't like me and will watch anything and has to have the tv on all the time which drives me crazy! So, he will just have to watch tv in another room because I like to read in bed and that's where the "new HDTV" is with the cable box! Oh, well!

I do not watch a whole lot of television anyway these days. I do watch some but not a whole lot. I guess I will spend more time working online and just socializing with my family.

I have netflix so I'll take in a few more movies and possibly read a few more books. I took a sick day today because of a cold and I am in the middle of reading Reserved for the Cat by Mercedes Lackey.

I tend to turn reruns and stuff on in the background as something to listen to while I'm doing stuff on the computer. So it doesn't change a whole lot. I am definitely looking forward to January, when my shows are back on but it's always about the same for me. Only difference is, I try to be more attentive when the shows are new. I have the news on most the time, and when I get sick of that I watch stuff I DVR'ed and stuff. I am trying to read the Twilight series for the second time, I'm on the second book now, but to be honest, my internet activities are a bigger distraction from the reading I want to do than tv ever is. During the regular season I'd say I have about 5-6 hours of new programming I watch each week, sometimes more. The other times it's typically background noise. Other than that, I listen to music and watch music videos, that's a big one.

I think that a great many of us also use the TV as background noise much of the time, greysfreak. Enjoy the holidays!

We have some movies on DVD we would like to watch we will probably do that. We also have some television series that we will likely watch on DVD too. My husband has managed to collect all of the Mash series DVD's and he wants to watch all of those. So that should keep up busy during this time. I also love to watch Christmas movies.

I recently started watching the Lonesome Dove series again, ladym33. I have watched it so many times, but it had been awhile since I last watched it.

Sounds like you'll be quite busy, lelin. As for me, I have not done any Christmas shopping this year. It is a first for me. Merry Christmas!
