why leave?

i have just become aware that a certain aggravatating mylotter is planning to call it quits next year, possibily to the delight of some others. a discussion on this has been started and went, possibly because the bosses of mylot though it was flaming. now for some reason i know why this user, aka The Nuisance is going, partly because of becoming fed up with childishness but mainly because of a new year's resolution to cut down on distractions. so have you ever decided that your participation in a website had run its course and if so why?

I don't know if I dare enter here as the curse of the deletion might follow me in. I vehmently oppose said nuisance leaving and might not be able to tolerate the childishness here if we can't moan about it together. So possible it could become dull and then we'll see. Gosh, just think of how many we could make happy.

Hey bunny, guess what the result of my deleted one was? Can't say it was unexpected.

I am currently thinking of cutting back on the websites that I participate in as they take up a lot of my time and they are not getting me the results that I was after. The social side of these sites is what I will miss, but I can still catch the same people elsewhere online. I am staying here because I am getting out of Mylot what I want, which is great interaction with awesome people and a little bit of cash thrown in for good measure! When I go away at Christmas time I will think about how I spend my time and make a decision then, when I am away from the computer for a few weeks!

you were the first, and possibly the only one. this shouldn't go because i am basically flaming myself but a friend started another on this and for some reason or other it went. anyway i've decided to call it quits here, mainly because it is a distraction and i waste a bit too much time waffling when i should be studying or actually writing stuff that i get paid slightly more for. there's lots of people i want to stay in touch with though and pms are being sent out over the next few days.

I am sad to hear that it is you that you are talking about JB. I have enjoyed your discussions in the short time that I have been here! I am a bit blind when it comes to a lot of terms used by more experienced Mylotters. What do you mean by flaming???

I think most things in life run their course. I have been on Mylot for 4 years now and it is still holding my interest. However, during the last few years I have joined and left a few websites for one reason or another. Sometimes for time constraints, sometimes because I lost interest. Over the years I have seen a few discussions on Mylot where the writer announced to the whole Mylot population that he or she is leaving Mylot. This always amuses me. As of now Mylot shows a membership of over 192000 members from most countries in the world. There are more than 53000 Americans, more than 8000 from Britain and more than 3000 from Canada alone just as an example. So,I am asking myself who of those 192 000 people would be interested or cared to know in the event that I would decide to leave. Obviously only those people on my friends's list with whom I had formed a somewhat more personal interaction, and of course I would notify them by PM and perhaps exchange e-mail addresses.

Discussions get deleted all the time. Mylot runs this site and I guess different moderators have their own ideas as to whether or not to delete or not delete a discussion.

that is what i am doing, although i am still on the first few pages of pms. i only started this because a friend's discussion got deleted (we thought it would be funny). i am certainly not after attention

I know who you are referring to, and I think it's entirely up to the person whether to leave or not. This person will definitely be missed, because I have always tried my best to answer the discussions created. My personal thought; take a break, but not permanently.. :D

Hi swoony, don't panic, it's not me, the person who is leaving is on a little break so I'm just popping in as when she gets back she'll be busy finishing all those christmas tat discussions she wants to bombard us all with. But there's no persuading the blue bunny to stay.

Wha'd I miss? I've cut way back on every other website than this one, 1) because I like it here more and 2) because stupid work has blocked all those social sites.

Yes I have a couple of times. I had my own community at one point and it was fun for a long while but by and by it got over-run with drama and childish games. I finally handed over the reins to a member that I trusted and respected and had taken on as partner to help oversee things when I discovered that he was a big part of all the drama and whatnot. I believe it has since folded but not sure...haven't checked.

I guess for me it's because I feel like, as you said, my participation here has run its course. Before posting and browsing was really enjoyable for me, but now, I just feel like this is something I have to do, just so all the earnings I had before wouldn't go to waste. So now, I am just trying my best to post as much so I can get my payout, and then I'll probably be away for a while until I feel like being active again.

The only sites that I've decided to leave were ones that didn't benefit me in any real way. One of these was MySpace, because none of my friends are even on it anymore, and so there's no point in me being there. I also quit going to Yahoo! Answers just because I find MyLot, which is almost the same thing, although we actually get paid for doing what we do. . I've never left a site just because I was "fed up" with people. Naturally..I'm not that argumentative, and rarely do people on MyLot get on my bad side (and when they do, it's usually because THEY initiated it.) Even if I was fed up, I don't think I'd ever leave MyLot.. I've become too attached! It's sad that this individual wants to leave, but he (or she) backed themselves into this corner. Don't go against the rules unless you can take the consequences.

I think participating in mylot is not distracting. You can get all your queries answered. There are so many things that you can discuss and share. I will never call it quits on mylot. And we are also getting paid for discussing. So what is the problem in spending some time here.

in my case i have spent a lot of time here and real life is starting to intrude. the other reason for me is becoming a little fed up with the childish bickering that i hope you have not encountered (stay out of the politics and religion sections and you should be ok).

Hi jb, It is difficult for me to understand your discussion. I think i only partly get the meanign. Although i do not decide to leave mylot, i am not active any more. You may notice that the quantities of my posts rise very slowly. Every time i only response several discussions. The reason is partly because that i had may some success on the main aim of participating mylot, improving my english wrriting. Additionally, now the limit time to mylot also contribute some. It is fortune that i still care about the discussions from my friends, of course including you. I think i should keep mylotting and increase our net relationship and make more improving on my english writting.

Hey Jb, I guess sobbing and histrionics cyber style doesn't really enhance the pleadings. This is my first time at a website of this nature and there are times that I find it difficult to find a discussion I want to participate in but as a whole the blue bunny and the Greek Girl make it really fun. I would be sad to see the "dynamic duo" broken up. I hope you will reverse your resolution and embrace all the distractions! Okay, that's a bit extreme but perhaps allow yourself this one distraction as I so enjoy your discussions and responses. The bobbing head will become a sobbing head (do avatar threats work? of course I am threatening my own avatar) I truly do not believe I would have lasted this long on this website if not for the caring individuals that I have met, you included.

Hi Lina, we've got the hopping rabbit until the end of the month and I'll be working on her. I did a fun discssion about an annoying mylotter leaving the other night, yes bunny did name herself that for my discussion, but alas it got deleted. Glad you are getting fun here, we aim to please, and I for one look foward to your responses.
