Death of a true friend.

Today is a very sad day for me. I logged into my computer this morning and went into my usual sites to find that one of my online friends had passed away overnight. I have known this man over the last year and a half from a few websites that I frequent on a daily basis. I learned a lot from him and he will be sorely missed. He was always there every day and these sites will not be the same without him. My thoughts are with his wife today, who I also know from the same websites. Although I never met the man and he lived on the other side of the world. I feel as though I have lost a close friend. It is a strange feeling! I guess I just wanted to share this with everyone here as a way of expressing my feelings. I was just wondering whether anyone else here has lost an online friend that they had never met and probably never would have met in real life.

I am very sorry to hear about the passing of your friend. This is a very sad time for you and you will need time to grieve I’m sure. I have not personally ever lost an online friend (touch wood). I do remember a young well liked and respected MyLot member passed away a while back and it affected a lot of people here myself included because I learned a great deal about the person and really regretted not having gotten to know her better while she was still here and now it’s too late. It is always difficult to see a valid reason for the loss of a valued friend and I hope you will feel better in time although I am certain you will never forget your dear friend. My prayers are with you and your friend’s family. Take care RawBill!

Thank you for your thoughts Paula. The guys over in the USA are organising an engraved memorial tree to be sent to his wife and a few of us are going to put in to buy it.

I hate to hear about your loss. You had a bond with him and no matter what he was an inportant part of your life. It is understandable you would feel the way you do. I have not lost any of my friends but I can imagine how you must be feeling. I'm so sorry for your loss my friend.

One of my friends from another site recently passed away and at a young age too. He had so many people that adored him. When I heard of his passing it was a shock. Sad when these things happen.

It is even more sad when someone young passes away. My friend was not young, but he still had some years in him I felt!

I haven't lost any. but one of my facebook friends had a stroke months ago and is still recuperating and not yet able to communicate with us. It is so sad to know someone you corresponded with all the time is going through such a bad situation.

Yes it is sad. I have many Facebook friends as well and this man was one of them but we communicated daily elsewhere. We rarely interacted on Facebook. Every social network that I have opened today I still see his profile there and it is strange knowing that he is no longer physically there!

hi Rawbill1 I sympathize with the pain you have right now in loosing a true friend.. Life is full of colors, sometimes there are ups and downs but the mere essence or your experience in having a true friend who passed away had made you a better person, God sent you a true friend whom you can rely on and share many thoughts about life.. He served as your companion in life struggle, although he passed away? there is only thing that never passed and changed.. You being his true friend too and I am sure wherever he is right now? he is privileged also having some one like you.. Good memories both you shared will remain not for the physical things that man does, But all the the betterment of life after these trial in your life would make you in the future.. Sometimes, things had to be accepted the way it is.. Friend do come and go.. But, in yourself, you have proven much that you are worth having a friend too..

My condolences. It is only natural to feel a loss. And it a great hommage to the rapport you built with a person you never met. There is kind of a magic associated with it.

Thanks. It is magical I guess and amazing that these bonds can be formed these days through the invention of this technology.

I have some online friends but only one is special, I mean we are very good friends. And I can imagine something to happen with him. I`m sorry for your lost. While I was reading your story it just remind me of the movie Mary and Max. It is a new movie and it is tragic like your story. Again I`m so sorry for your lost.
