When putting lights on a tree do you start at the top or bottom?

Last year was the first time I put lights on our tree. I can't remember where I started, The top or bottom. What do you do?

hi marty3888, I prefer putting lights in a christmas tree from the bottom.. especially if there will be an adjustment from the electric output to the christmas tree where you gonna put the lights.. and the end of the light wire will be at the top of the christmas tree. to add more lights in excess..

Hi, marty3888. I have never putted lights on a tree. But if I was to start it would be from the top, then I would work my way up..

Anytime I put lights or garland on a tree I always start at the top and work my way to the bottom. Thankfully this year we didn't have to worry about putting lights on as our tree already has lights on it. We just had to put it together and put on garland on ornaments.

That's the kind I would like to get for next year. with ours, not only do we have to put on the lights, but to put it together, you have to put on each branch individually. It can take an hour just to do that. Even if I can find one that has three parts with no lights, that would be fine. I'll have to wait til after christmas.

We have one of those miniature Christmas trees so it's easy to put the lights on it. I usually start from the top of the tree and work my way down. The cool thing is that it only takes two strings of lights for our tree. I've tried going the opposite way but it was a harder since I didn't really have a starting point. From the top, the tip of the tree is where I start and work my way around.

Start in the middle. Pray it wraps up the whole tree cuz, blast it, I'm too short for this kind of work!

I always start at the bottom and then work my way to the top. I put my tree up on Thanksgiving evening and keep it up until New Year's Eve. I love to decorate my tree with homemade ornaments first then the store bought ones. My grandmother made a lot of ornaments over the years and when she had passed they were passed on to me. Someday I will pass them on to my own children.

Hey marty, This is a very interesting, random and funny question which most of the time I don't think about, by now that you asked I will. I own a big christmas tree, which means that I need a ladder all the time. I normally start from the bottom since I find it easier, then a gradually make my way to the top by using the ladder. I have tried once to start from the top, but it was very time-consuming and frustrating, especially when the lights fall down and break.

I guess it depends on where the outlet is.

I think i would start at the top and then work my way down, I think this is because the top would be the most difficult and more tiring to do, so I think it would work out to be easier as I worked my way down...does that make sense...? :o
