and it was really scary! I always take the freeway on Monday and Wednesday mornings to get to a class I have at one of my school's campuses- the farthest one from where I live. I was really nervous, and drove slowly and took turns really gently. The drive there was alright, but on the way back I was 1 foot away from getting into an accident. The car behind me was trying to change lanes to the left and pass me, and as he did so, he slid on the ice in between the lanes and the car spun 360 degrees several times, coming extremely close to me, it almost flipped over! Luckily there were no cars coming behind him, and his car didn't flip. Once he got control again, he pulled over. Have you ever been in or seen an accident in the ice and snow?

I grew up in New York so I am pretty used to snow and driving in it. Just take it slow and easy and never slam on your breaks since that result in a wicked spin.

Yes I have been in a near accident and it was snowing. My husband was driving and everyone was going slow because of the snow. One person in a car thought we were all going to slow I guess. He passed us and lost control of his car and went between us the car in front of us. Luckly there was enough room for his car he slid off the side of the road and spun his car around. He did not hit anything or roll his car. The car behind us stop to see if he was allright. As we kept moving down the road there were others cars just like the one that spun in front of us these people evidently did not know you need to go slow when it is snowing. Some people are just in to much of a hurry no matter what the weather is like.

I once had to drive on a street that wasn't deiced yet in Colorado Springs. I was coming to a stop sign, decelerating very slowly. When I came to a complete stop, my car was going sideways towards a car that was parallel parked right next to me. Fortunately I was able to accelerate enough to avoid the bender. I'm back in California, and today we had a very cold storm that dropped snow on the central valley which is a relatively rare occurrence. I'll find out tomorrow how many crashes we had because even in the more common fog, there are a significant number of people here who do not how to drive and still insist that they do.

Oh yeah ! That was very close ! The last few days, there have been very heavy snow across Canada, and there were many accidents in the cities and on the highways. Like you did, I drove very slowly when I went to work along the snow covered roads, with two fee of snow. Very very dangerous. Every one was careful ofcourse, but despite that, there were many accidents, wet and slippery roads.

Hi olisaur LOL..I am also NOT a driver in the snow. Where I live we tend to get some snow every winter but I just never had the desire to drive it and I never really had to. About this time last my husband was working in another state. I had drove in to his mom's to get mail and pay some bills here. The morning got up to leave and it had started snowing really hard. I knew that I had to try. I got onto the interstate and it was solid white. I drove very slow and easy. This guy went by me going pretty good speed in a 4-wheel drive truck. I guess he thought that he could go on. I got about 2 miles up the road and there he was in middle on its side. He was fine but you could tell that he was embarrassed..

I have never been in an accident in the ice or snow. Close calls but thank God nothing happened. I give you alot of credit for driving in the snow. I would never drive in the snow its just to scary. I don't even like being a passenger in a car in the snow. Be careful and I'm happy that guy didn't get into an accident and or hit you.

Hahaha! I'm just like you! I HATE HATE HATE HATE driving in the snow. Not so much because I don't know how, but moreso because I don't trust other people. Last winter it sucked here in Washington. It snowed SOOOOO much and the roads were SOOOOO icy, but it's like people didn't care. They'd still try to go just as fast as they would in normal weather, so, needless to say, there were TONS of accidents. I actually did see someone ram into the back of the person next to me. It freaked me out, especially because it could have been me and I had my daughter in the car. The guy was driving like normal and waited too long to hit his breaks, and when he did he was on ice and just slid into the other person. I don't even think hitting his breaks made him slow down at all. So yeah, driving in the snwo is scary and I avoid it if at all possible. But you knwo what sucks? I'm due to have a baby on the 22nd of this month, so I'm hoping it waits until after I have the baby to snow. That way we won't have to rush to the hospital in that nasty weather.
