Hi yugasini, I have a passport. My mom had secured one for me when I was below 18 years old. That time, getting it is not that strict yet from my country. But now, its hard to get one. I am thankful I had one and used to renew it only after 3 years if I am not mistaken. Its one proof of identification too.

It will save you time and energy to renew like for 3 years here in my country. Yes, its getting thorough now and difficult. And for normal processing, it really takes time. Good thing we have ours already so we only need to renew them

No. I do not have passport. I never travelled abroad and none of my children are abroad. Earlier I wanted to visit some countries like America, London, Singapore, moritious, switzerland, Nepal, Egypit etc. But now I am feeling very tired and cannot walk more. Knee pain is also severe. So why to give trouble to my family members? So no intention of going abroad. Hence I do not require pass port.

No, yugasini. I don't have these type of Passports. I am from the United States. If I was to travel then I may need one of these passports to travel and get inside of another country.

hi cream, thanks for the response/comment,you must require a valid passport to leave the country and to enter in the other country, why you are denying it,it is a valid document, but there is no necessary of passport if you travel within the country,so there is no planning of travel to other countries?have a nice day

Hi Yugasini. I've never traveled yet outside my own country except to Canada, for which no passport was needed. Since I'd love to go visit other countries someday, I will get a passport when the need arises :) Karen

I first got my passport in 1975 when i was selected to work for a job in Bahrain, which unfortunately did not materialize. This was valid for only 5 years which was the rule at that time. Then i got it renewed and this time it was valid for 10 years and due to expire in 1985. In the meantime i was sent to Oman by my company and when it expired there i got it renewd for another 10 years. In the meantime i travelled 11 times on it and went to USA also. After it expired in 1995 i got it renewed for another 10 years and will now expire only in 2015 and i am debating whether to renew it or let it lapse since there is no likelihood of my ever leaving my home country again.

I dont think it is necessary if you don't do any overseas travel. These documents are quite expensive and there are other forms of Identification we can use which are cheaper or easier to get. Generally a drivers license will be enough for most things.. If you plan to travel then get one, if you have no plan to travel (or won't for at least a few years) then I would not bother to renew and I would save the money..
