Are we becoming like domesticated animals to the government?

I become concerned that as the government attempts to take over more and more of our lives that humans will cease to try and better themselves. Kind of like if you put food out for a feral cat - the cat will cease to hunt and will go for the "easy" food. After a period of time the cat will lose the ability and desire to hunt and will be dependent on the provided food, becoming fat and lazy. Then if the food is removed the cat will die because it has forgotten how to hunt. Is this how we are becoming to our government? If they provide us with all our needs, homes, cars, healthcare, etc.... will we then cease to attempt to procure these things on our own? This is another method that the government is using to attempt to control the people and thus the nation. People need to wake up and see that all these "help" programs are just another way to make you dependent on the government and to encourage you not to try and do for yourself. Then you become unable to "hunt" and will wither and die without government intervention.

Their is a growing portion of the population that just wants the government to take care of them. They don't realize that that can only go on so long before there is no one left to actually provide the funds for the government to take care of them. They are willing to give up their rights and others rights and did not learn that communism and socialism just do not work.

It amazes me that more people don't see that government seeks to control lives. That's its purpose. And it doesn't necessarily happen with the progressives alone, but they are the ones that push the "big government" message. People eat it up. I go off on rants sometimes and write basically the same thing about the whole liberal progressive movement: They've turned any "cause" into a victim and have thus created dependents and guilt-ridden sheep who believe EVERYTHING spewed from the mouth of the latest progressive tool who says, basically, "do this to save a victim!" There is zero encouragement from the progressive government to do anything on your own. This defeats the purpose. It would be like Sears telling you to shop at JC Penny or a plumber telling you to fix the pipes yourself. The thing that amazes me most about this whole government takeover business isn't that the government is trying to control lives, but that people are okay with it. I mean, heck, wanting power and personal gain is a desire most of us have. But it's insanity that so many are willing to forfeit theirs and do what they're told. Do so many people want so badly to believe in something that they'd sacrifice free will to cave into politicians? Obama was called Jesus and the Messiah and whatnot because of the extreme faith and devotion people were throwing at him willingly. The biggest proponents of the progressive movement are treated like gods. Their words are abided, regardless of the consequences. Nobody is smearing anyone with this stuff; it's sadly the truth. I'm always screaming at my uber-liberal friends to wake up and just take a look at it all in context. Politicians are born regular people like me and you. Nobody's ever ran for office that didn't want control and nobody's certainly ran for president that didn't want to run the country. In this day and age, becoming a big-earning activist or a politician is a career move. It's the new Wall Street. Everything anyone's ever wanted to know about the whole liberal progressive thing was on display at that climate conference. Over a hundred well-to-do big-shots, all flying in and showing up in limos, donning their nice suits, and relishing the opportunity to be seen and heard, all while deciding how WE should live OUR lives! It's like they're suddenly the royalty and we're the lowly paupers of the kingdom, relying on His Majesty's grace and good will to see us through. It's insane! America was created to be wholly different than anything even closely resembling this nonsense. This is one instance where I can truly say that both sides--people, not politicians--ARE NOT the same.
