Ouch!! I fell down last night--when was the last time you fell?

Well, last night I had to help Cookie outside to potty--she'd had some minor surgery because of some fluid buildup, she's okay--and she got inside but my foot slipped and down I went! I fell off the three steps, skinning my knee on the way down and my head hit the side of the house, ouch! So I went straight to bed. This morning I see that I tore my coat so I'll have to mend it. I have a bump on my head, the toes of my left foot are painful and swollen some and it hurts to walk on that foot. I feel really clumsy and stupid! When was the last time you fell down and went boom? Were you clumsy, ill, was it icy? Did you feel as dumb as I do?

The last time I remember was last Friday at the Family Dollar store. I dunno; I was tired, or something. Deciding to turn around at the end of an aisle, I lost my balance and fell into a stack of toilet-paper rolls.

I haven't fallen in public but I would think it would be embarrassing for me. I hope you didn't get bruised and sore!

The last time I fell was about four years ago on ice since I live in iowa it gets very icey time to time and thats never fun at all. So I wear boots with pointy things at the botton so I will fall less on ice which I hurt my elbow and my back which I had to see a doctor for some pain medication strong enough to relieve the pain none of the over counter stuff worked for me.

That's much worse than my fall! I'm glad you got better. I have a bad back, scoliosis, so I know how much you were hurting. Ice is no fun, I try to stay in when there is ice. It's so cold right now that I wonder at my sanity--I moved back home from the Southwest desert because I missed the 4 seasons. It's fine in winter except when it's icy then I wonder why I wanted to come back--plus, incidents like last night when it was so cold and windy. But then the other 3 seasons make it worth it, and winter is so beautiful.

Hi dragon. The last time I fell was 7 months ago when I fainted due to an illness that I had. Remember that discussion? Ewww. LOL I've slipped pretty good on some ice before. Though I didn't fall. I somehow planted my feet in some snow that was there. After that I didn't bother to take the path that was cleared. I walked right through the snow itself. Fortunately it wasn't that deep. It was great! I didn't have to worry about losing my footing after that! LOL Don't feel dumb. It could happen to anyone. Just be careful next time so it doesn't happen again! Happy mylotting!

Thanks dragon, I hope not either. It was one of the worst illnesses that I've had in a long time. Hope you feel better soon!

I do remember your being ill and hope you don't get that bad again. I learned when I was young to avoid sidewalks in the winter! I salt mine so that people won't fall but others don't pay much attention so mine is about the only stretch that is safe. The worse thing about falling, other than breaking a bone, is when you hit your head. Mine is still tender. Take care of yourself and stay healthy!

As a matter of fact, the last time I fell hard was on some ice. It is a funny story. It was about three years ago when I first met my boyfriend and I had been drinking.... He drove me home and I slipped and fell when I got out of his truck and hurt my leg pretty bad. I didn't break it or anything, it was only bruised, but it was quite embarrassing.

It was earlier this year or last year. I was at McDonald's with my parents where we had just finished eating. We had parked at the bottom of this slightly sloping surface covered by grass. Well I was walking down as slowly as I could and all of a sudden, I slipped and landed on my butt. My leg hurt for at least a month after that happened. Since there were two women sitting in a nearby car, I did feel a little dumb.

Grass can be awfully slippery! It's possible that you suffered a very small fracture or a bone chip in your leg. I'm glad it's healed up. I bet you'll avoid grassy slopes from now on!

Well, unfortunatly for me, I am a very clumsy individual! However, most of the time it consists of bumping into things throughout my day. But, recently I did take a good fall. It was about a week ago. I was upstairs in my house putting some clothes away and I heard a strange noise(which was probebly my cat) well, I am also a big "scardy cat" and I started to sprint downstairs. I was going pretty good until I reached about the 6th or 7th step from the bottom and then slid and fell. It was sor of like I hydroplaned down the steps and then landed at the bottom on my rear end. Not that I didnt feel stupid enough sitting on the floor afterwards but, my husband had fallen asleep on the couch just around the corner from the steps and it awoke him. He came running over worried and stood above me asking me if I was ok and trying to help me up. I was so embarrased and I told him that I was fine, even though my bottom felt like it was on flames!

Wow, I hope it's all better now! I remember sliding down the stairs on my bottom when I was very young and using a long piece of cardboard as a toboggan on the stairs and with the cardboard my bottom still hurt--I can just imagine how it felt for you! I used to be jumpy, too. I don't know when it stopped, it was very gradual, but it started to go away after my husband left us. Not that your husband needs to leave!!! But maybe you have something that is making you very tense and it makes you jumpy. I wasn't even aware anything was wrong but my subconscious knew. Maybe something is bothering you that you're not aware of. Take care, and remember there's no such thing as monsters!

Yep absolutly feel dumb! Last winter I was walking down my basement steps and since it was sunny the light from the back door light my way so I was being cheap and kept the light off. Well I had a song in my head and I missed a couple of the bottom steps and landed on my knees on CONCRETE! Can you say OUCH! I'm not a tiny person so it really hurt, they were bruised for a bit and tender to the touch for several weeks. I was worrying I was going to need to go into the Dr because it felt so tender for so long. Doesn't it stink that we don't just bounce back from such things like little kids do? you dry their tears and they are up and running again w/o a care in the world and your still hurting. I'm glad you are able to fix your jacket.

Yep, that jacket cost me $30! I remember posting last winter about buying it, it was warmer and cheaper because it was a man's. Women's that weren't as warm cost twice as much and I won't trade comfort for style, no way, especially when style costs more! Concrete HURTS! I'm glad you didn't damage anything badly but yes, it stinks that we can't bounce back like we used to! I'm 22 years older than you and believe me, you should take care of yourself now if you want to be in any kind of shape to enjoy life in 20 years. I lived like a hellion till I was 32 and got pregnant and I'm paying for it now. Eat right, exercise, and get lots of love and when you're my age maybe you won't be as clumsy as me!

I'm a somewhat clumsy person but it's been a while since I fell down. I think the last time was a few months ago. I went fishing with my parents at the lake when it happened. The ground I was standing on had a slight downward slope and my shoes didn't really have good traction. My dog, Daisy, was running around my feet and I was trying to avoid stepping on her. Anyways, I slipped and fell. My left arm was a bit cut up because I ended up landing in a blackberry bush. Besides that and a sore bum I wasn't too injured. My parents weren't even too surprised, they just sighed and told me that I was a klutz. They also got a good laugh about it later on though.

What a mean person, you are well rid of her! Today the toes are much better, I think I just bruised them pretty badly although they look well enough on the outside. Skinned knees are the worst, aren't they? We bend them so much, the poor things don't know just how and where to lay down scabs and we're always ripping them apart. I'm just glad I hadn't changed into my nightgown yet or I would've skinned it worse!

The last time I feel was two winters ago. I was getting ready to go to work. It was cold and icy and my car was at the bottom of our driveway which is at a pretty serious incline. Well, my first step onto the slope and I slipped and twisted and heard a pop and felt a pain I hadn't felt in a long time in the middle of my lower leg. I thought I had broken it for sure. So, there I was lying on the slope of the driveway with my head lower than my feet, now realizing it was pretty much completely covered in ice, near tears because my leg was screaming at me, frustrated because i was going to be late for work (that's if i didn't end up going to the hospital), and trying to figure out how I was even going to get myself up and into the house (because at the very least I was soaking wet from lying on the snowy icy driveway). So, I pull out my cell phone and call my work. I tell my co-worker that I am lying on the ground and I think I may have broken my leg and I would let them know as soon as I did. Next I am contemplating waking everyone in my house up to come help me back in the house(oh yea, I forgot, it's only 5am when all this is happening), because every time I try to get turned around I side and my leg kills me. But finally, I slide myself towards the grass and can get a little tract and haul myself up and hop towards the house. After I get in the house, I try to put a little weight on my leg. It hurt, but it's not intolerable. I sit down and look at it, and see some bruising and a little swelling, but decide to give it a bit before I go to the ER. I put on some dry clothes. After about 30 more minutes I decide to go to work and give it a try. Thankfully, I made it thru the day, and I didn't break my leg, and i was off the next day. I didn't really feel embarrassed. It could happen to anyone. Of course I might of felt a bit different had I not been able to actually get up off the ground and had to wake my family to come get me.

What a horrible way to start the day! I'm glad you didn't break anything! When I was looking for a house to buy two years ago, I saw a lovely house but it had a driveway like you describe. I thought about trying to go up and down it in the winter and decided that house was at the bottom of the list! I'm glad your employer was understanding. Be careful this winter!

Last month! I tripped over an uneven sidewalk, and ended up breaking both arms. I can finally type again, but have months of physical therapy to go. Don't think I'll ever forget this one! :-(

How horrible! The city is supposed to maintain sidewalks, aren't they? In my town, the city can make us repair the sidewalk in front of our house if it isn't safe but I don't think they inspect them much. I'm so glad you're better. I can't imagine breaking one arm and being able to do my everyday living, to say nothing of both!

So sad... a month back or so i was coming from somewhere i guess... and i had to catch underground metro and i preferred stairs rather than lift because it was full and i didn't wanted to wait as i was getting late... so i started running on the stairs and missed my foot on one step... i was going to fall on my face but managed to get my hand in between and saved my face... i felt really embarrassing as people around started laughing and i could only getup and run off again... so how are you feeling now...

That must have been embarrassing! I'm glad you were not hurt, you could have broken some bones! I never understood why people laugh when someone falls. I feel okay this morning except for my sore foot and knee. It was close to zero outside last night and very windy, good thing I was able to get up right away and get inside or I might have frostbite this morning!

Probably the last time I was intoxicated, as bad as that sounds haha. I am a very clumsy drunk which means I am very bad at hiding the fact I am wasted. My parents could always tell when I was coming home hammered because I would be walking into a door jamb or falling over a chair. I think I fell down three steps last time I was drunk, one too many gin & juice, and my friend has this really scary missing step that is absolutely not drunk proof obviously! I fell on my face as the outcome, :(

One thing about being drunk is that it saves you from too much injury because you are so relaxed, or so the theory goes. I rarely drink to excess anymore but I remember in my younger days thinking I was just fine when I could barely walk! Take care!

hi dragon54u oh do I remember the last time I fell as I still had the painful bruised ribs to show for it. It was a few days before a year ago Thanksgiving and I was trying to follow our friend Mike into his apartment. It was really dark out ,late evening, and we were in a parking area between two apartments. I was unfamilar with this area. I blithely tripped along behind Mike leaning on my quad cane. then I did really trip,in the dark I did not see the cement bumper thing that the cars are parked behind. I did go splat on my knees, ripped the skin off both knees and did not do my ego any good either. It took both Mike and my son to get me to my feet, and when I got upstairs to Mikes apartment I realized my ribs hurt. I had actually broken a rib in the fall.So felt so dumb. after the fact I now knew why Mike had jumped, he knee the concrete curbs were there, well I did not so down I went. I am not a small person so landing on my ribs did do some damage. My only defense was it was dark and I did not see the curb.

Oh, ouch!! I'm glad your rib didn't puncture your lung or heart. I hope you watch closely next time, I doubt you'll ever again ignore the fact that someone jumps without looking to see what they are jumping over!

I would bet you have one or more broken toes dragon ouchie for sure.I dropped a full gallon can of paint on my left foot one time and broke a toe. so painful and it swelled way up too. Hi there Dragon Well the last fall that i took was ice skating, but not this year ! It happened the first time i went skating on the ice with my girlfriend. I fell twice, but neither one was damaging for me. Apart from this i slipped on ice on the skate ring, and on the roads during winter, but never fell, not in the past 2 years anyway.

What a horrible fall you had! I can't imagine how it must be to have a cast (plaster) on your whole leg, it must have been miserable. I'm glad you were not stuck there and that someone found you and took you to medical attention. It's amazing to me sometimes that more people do not die from falls and it's a little scary to me to realize that the same thing could happen to me.

The last time I fell down was some time last winter. I was at my boyfriend's house and he lives out in the middle of no where so its really hard to get a car to his house when it snows bad...but anyway...we got stuck and had to walk a little ways...and I was wearing harley davidson biker boots (not good for walking in snow lol) and feel flat on my butt lol...fortunatly I didn't get hurt but my boyfriend and I had only been going out for a few weeks at that point, so it was a little embarassing lol

Wow, that really would be embarrassing! I'm glad you weren't hurt but it did give you a chance to let him help you up. Snow is bad here because we don't get our streets plowed or salted regularly--budget cuts--even though I live near the middle of a small city.
